I run straight VP MS103 all the time. The car runs great on this gas, and my AFR's are perfect at 1.25 bar. Todd from Proto told me that MS103 was more stable than MS109, and he preferred MS103 with my setup.

I have a local dealer that delivers 54 gallon drums directly to my house. I call him, and within 3 or 4 days I have a new drum. I pay $540 delivered.

I just recently found a place near Dallas that sells the VP MS 109 for around $9.50/gallon and it made a considerable difference in power in my car, great stuff albeit expensive, but worth it.
If anyone knows a place that sells the VP MS 109 at a better price in or around Dallas please let me know.

When you mention stability are you referring to storage or combustion?

Combustion. He didn't really elaborate on it, but he was absolutely referring to combustion.

103 is great but it is dyed red. I like the clear stuff.

MOTORSPORT 103
MS103 provides power and protection equal to some leaded racing fuels. Compared to Motorsport 101, it allows even more aggressive timing and higher compression-up to 14:1 in cast iron head engines and up to 15:1 with aluminum heads. Can allow doubling of stock boost - consult your engine builder. Also contains no metal compounds and won't harm catalytic converters or oxygen sensors. AMA legal for Supercross & Outdoor Nationals.
Color: Red
Motor Octane: 99
R+M/2: 103
Oxygenated: Yes
Specific Gravity: .743 at 60° F

MOTORSPORT 109
Produces more power than any other unleaded fuel. Recommended for higher boost applications with CRs up to 11:1 or naturally aspirated engines up to 13:1. Excellent in crate engine applications. Fueled 2-time World Jet Ski Champion, David Sellés.
Color: Clear
Motor Octane: 101
R+M/2: 105
Research Octane: 109
Oxygenated: Yes
Specific Gravity: .722 at 60° F

Motor octane isn't what matters. Its the Anti-Knock index that does (R+M/2).

He's referring to the specific gravity (SG) of each fuel...and since MS103 has a higher SG than MS109 does, he prefers it over the 109.

The Sunoco 100 octane I use has a higher SG than both MS103 of MS109 and my car loves it. I also get it for $5.99 a gallon right from the pump which is nice.

I was led to believe the motor octane was the most important number and that is why on most Leaded gas they only list the motor octane and nothing else.
C15
Used in large (500 CI or greater) normally aspirated engines with ultra high CRs of 14:1 or greater. Can also be used in smaller nitrous systems. Very consistent fuel - excellent for bracket racing.
Color: Green
Motor Octane: 115
Specific Gravity: .713 at 60° F

All VP fuels are available in 5- (19 liter), 15- (56 liter), 30- (113 liter) and 54-gallon (204 liter) pails and drums except where noted.
C16
Used in turbocharged engines, blown engines and nitrous applications with CRs up to 17:1. Recommended by the top nitrous oxide companies. Spec Fuel for NHRA Comp Eliminator.
Color: Blue
Motor Octane: 117
Specific gravity: .735 at 60° F

C19
Used in high RPM, normally aspirated drag race applications with CRs up to 17:1. Spec fuel for NHRA Comp Eliminator classes.

Color: Yellow
Motor Octane: 116
Specific Gravity: .695 at 60° F

C23
Recommended for ultimate performance in nitrous oxide applications with CRs up to 18:1. Used in Sport Compact, ADRL Pro Mod and large 800 CI IHRA-style drag race engines.

Color: Blue
Motor Octane: 120+
Specific Gravity: .713 at 60° F

Just because VP racing lists only Motor Octane #'s for their leaded fuels does not mean everyone else does, nor does it mean it's the standard.

Torco Race Fuels, for example, produces fuels that I believe are superiuor to VP's...yet they list all three octane levels (RON, MON and "Pump" AKA R+M/2). SO does Trick racing gas, Sunoco and Turbo Blue...all shown below.

Regardless, when tuners tune a car, they almost use the PUMP or R+M/2 number for tuning...since R+M/2 is the recognized standard for comparing fuels.

I am trying to get some Torco to test. If it is better and cheaper I am in. The local distributor says they are all out.
