996TT or 997 GT3 - who is faster
#16
MT ran a 11.9 @ 116.1 in a stock K16 TT in thier November of 2000 road test.
I think on average, a 996TT will take a 997 GT3.

In a straight line both stock, 996 TT. I've watched stock full weight 996 TT cab run 12.4 @ 115. And even an average drag racer (me) can run low 12's in a stock 996 TT.
You have to be able to shift your but off to go fast in a GT3, I mean almost to the point of power shifting.
My vote goes for the 996 TT in a drag race.

Dez, you can drive my Turbo while I drive the GT3....bring your camera

Was that in a 6 speed or Tip ( I'm guessing 6 speed but hoping Tip )?

It's my understanding that the GT3 doesn't have the gains in a flash that the 996TT has. That said, I'd suspect that the same driver in both cars "stock" would be a tick faster in the GT3, due to three factors:
Weight
Suspension
Brakes
Throw mods in the mix and forget it. Different animals all together. I constantly surprise guys in GT3s, 997 and 996 both... And I should. I have a decent brake system (finally) and a ton of HP advantage, plus a bit of weight savings *(Nothing like Heavy or Tom, mind you). Once I get my suspension issues addressed (within two weeks of being done) the GT3 contingent will really have their hands full.

wait until you hear what GT3 drivers says about the Turbo.... not very pleasing.
Some local guy with a 996 GT3 made a comment "you never been in a P-car until you have driven a GT3, Tubos are for... haha you know...."
I do love the 997 GT3, but 996 GT3 vs 996 TT, the TT for sure.

Hey guys, the original post was a DRAG RACE, which is what I'm talking about. STRAIGHT LINE ONLY!!!!!!!
On the track, I'd go for a flashed K16 TT with sport cups and motons to be able to be in the vicinity of the GT3.
