Turbo experts: GT28/16 dilemma, need advice
#17
thats about : $5500 MAX...
and you get easily 650 rwhp at ur will on 104 octane...
other options:
K24s with 20gs plus upgraded WGs = $4300
retune with cable= 750
so its $5K...total...
It can be done Sean you just have to believe it. Where did you get 10k from?

Sean- I'll take the over. See, for you it is not about that extra 100hp. It is about one thing and one thing only. Your yellow nemesis. So....if you go 24/20 guess what? He goes 30's. Then what?
You ought to look at Scott's numbers on a stock bottom end, save the appropriate sheckles and be done with it.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!
PS: Good luck with it whichever way you go

Sean,
come to think of it... if you go the K24/20g route- which according to Bobby is not the smartest idea due to the restrictive hot side of the K24( if compared to 3076rs)..... you will have to get new headers as well... thats assuming you now have tru GT28s...
If so, Im pretty sure the GT30rs will fit- if you you have headers made already for the GT28s...

Markski
I believe he has the gt28's with k16 housing and therefore true garretts will not bolt up.
Doc - what are you making at the wheels now?

Jags,
Correct, I have the 16 housing that bolts onto the stock set up. I made 605 in 110 degree heat at 1.3 bars.
And $manager, you are correct, beating tweety is the goal. However Tweety has a stock fuel system/clutch/IC's and thus has to take a big financial step to match me if I go to 24/18's.
I have run into about 5 people w/ stock 24's who have been trying to sell them for a long time for 2.2K. I am sure one of them will eventually come down in price (as a matter of fact one just asked for a counter offer). As soon as I get some stock K 24's for under 2K I will start the upgrade process.

Be the Guinea Pig for the 24/20's and do the TX Mile with them to boot.
Someone else has 24/20's is it UNMYM3? (In addition to Bobby)
I also have been tempted by the K24/20's but my car just keeps going, and going.
Plus I am still trying to catch my road race course driving up to my cars performance.
