Trap speeds for 996 turbo stock and with chip

I currently don't have a Porsche, but I to have a turbo car. It's a 97 Toyota supra turbo. I have a single turbo on it and was able to run 11.9 @ 122 mph with bad 60' of 2.3. This was one on street tires 285/30/18 rear and pump 93 fuel. I have been reading this forum and looking at some of the pictures and fell in love. I am thinking about getting a 996 turbo car but wanted to know what the times for it are, and what are the things to look out for. With the supra I can push the car to 700rwhp without worrying about braking the motor or the getrag tranny. But I wanted to have a Porsche since age 6! Anyways, could you tell me what the weak parts on that car are and what are the limits?

Thank you so much
Paul,

These cars can be monsters for the drag strip with money, but if that's your primary thing, I'd stick with the Supra. Much more bang for the buck in a straight line than the 996 Turbo.

Now if you plan on doing other things, like turning, then these are a great deal.

paul welcome. both cars are very capable of a lot of power and speed. I love supras, wish i had one. Just keep the supra and buy a turbo. you will then have all the bases covered.

Well an X50 Turbo can do a 1/4 in 11.89 seconds... since a non-x50 chiped makes 40 more hp than a X50, I am sure you could be hitting the 11.7 range...

Slap an EVO Stage 4 in a TT and you'll be laughing.

The Surpra's a cool little car, but I've driven 996 TT's and they are alot of fun.
