I think that the 996 styling doesn't follow a direct line from what a porsche should look. When they first came out I hated the 996 front end. I still think they should've never made it like that, but it actually grew on me and now I appreciate it as it is different. The 997 is a tep back in evolution to a more contemporary, cleaner design

So which one do you like better? I think the 997 lights make the front of the car look heavy....

I posted this a long time ago here and/or on rl...

Two designer friends of ours looked at my car and felt the 996 front was more modern, newer looking, and thus a more honest move by Porsche. The 997 is s combination of really mostly the innards of the 996, audi-esque interior stuff, and 993 front lights.....sort of a designer hodgepodge.

They actually felt the 996 was the more pure design. That being said, not all Porsche buyers want a "better" design, they want "the" design....that is Porsche's strength and weakness in a nutshell.

I think putting a 997 front clip on a 996 is a little much. Maybe send the headlights to Switzer and have him body color match them. I'd love to do it, but the price doesn't make much sense.

In my opinion, I think the 996 headlight looks way more feminized thant the 997. Together with the curves of the 996, i think the entire car looks real sexy (i found female more attractive than male..lol)

Don't know, but the integration of the 996 headlight with the line of the car is so fluid and flat than I find it more refined that the 997 wich is more of a "brute" line (mostly looking at it from the front).

The best I can say is, do you remember the movie "cars" where they animated a women in a 996 in powder blue. I think it's a good comparison, I woudn't see the same women acting if the car was a 997...
