Brake Fluid

I am going to bleed my brakes this weekend to try to get ready for Thunderhill DE in two weeks.

I was going to just go to Rusnak and pick up a few bottles of brake fluids, but thought that I would check with you guys as to what kind of brake fluids you guys are all using...

Thanks!

I would try to stick with high temp fluid if possible such as ATE SuperBlue or Gold, or Motul 600. Castrol SRF has the highest boiling point but cannot be mixed at all as it will turn into a gel substance. The ATE and Motul can at least be mixed with a conventional fluid if you run into an emergency and need to add fluid. Hope this helps.

I use ATE blue-good dry and wet boiling temps, and you can switch to ATE gold to make it easy to tell when the old fluid is purged. One can should be sufficient (in fact, you should have some left over). Don't buy more than you need-it doesn't keep.

TCM - Wow buddy. Castrol has no problem being mixed with other DOT 4 fluids. It doesn't gel.

Tim:

According to Castrol reps it does. They suggest not using Castrol SRF unless you intend to only have a track car and have no threat of mixing fluids. I know it has the highest brake temp point, but that was what I was told by Castrol about a year ago.

True dat - TCM and I checked this issue as I wanted some better than stock or ATE fluid when I switched from stockers to Brembos...To do it right I owuld have had to buy a new fluid tank and new plumbing - NOT worth the cost...
I think Motul 600 is better than ATE but harder to find

SRF is around $70! I have the Ate Super Blue on sale for $8.75. Do the math.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I ended up getting two bottles of ATE Gold from one of my track buddies, and will be doing it this weekend during our tech session to get our cars ready for the BMWCCA Thunderhill school.

Apparently, the CCA is Friday and Satruday, and Tracquest is Sunday and Monday for Thunderhill. Anyone going to one or the other?

If you're serious about tracking your car, don't run any of the ATE stuff. If you're willing to shell out the money, get SRF. If not, get Motul's RBF600.

Anybody use any of the new GS610 that costs a fortune.
Wonder for almost 50/pint if it's actually better than Motul or Castrol???
