Bad Gas: Fact or Fiction? (Poll)

So, how prevalent is 'bad gas'?

I see this alot with peope posting- both wondering if they got some bad gass, or if someone else's issue was bad gas.

But how about it? Who has CONFIRMED fills with bad gas, multiple cars crippled on the highway, or news coverage, or other clear evidence that there was a problem with the fill by some other method.

LA TECH is infamous around these parts
Good question. I have always wondered this myself. I would love to see some tests done to check the different levels of octane from various gas stations. I wonder which gas stations are on point and which are slacking. You never know we might be wasting money at the more expensive staions. However, until I get some solid data I will continue to fill up at my 76 or Shell.

There is real danger at smaller service stations in the middle of nowhere in my experience, as the "good stuff" doesn't get sold much and can sit in the ground for a long time. If you've got a stock motor with working knock sensing, etc it's not a huge deal, but I've seen a highly strung race motor blown at One Lap Of America due to a tank of bad gas. I believe they recovered some money from the station...

I get bad gas all the time. My wife thinks it's from too much protein in my diet, I think it's from beer.

As does mine! That will NEVER change! These engines are WAY to expensive to trust gas from a pump.

for some of my mercedes when i have the gas filter changed they find all sort of weird stuff stuck in there

i've also had a few tanks of "water-ed" down gas (car went in for service for idleing problems and they siphon the gas tank and find a good amount of water)
