diference betwen K24 AND K24/18g's
#47
I have 10 pairs of K24s in stock and can have the upgrade done in less than a week (I actually will have a set in stock as of tomorrow).

i got to agree with mark on this one... i had a 18 g with 5 bar , and neevr lost to a k24 car. and for that matter i havent seen any properly setup 18g loose to a k24.
the point that some one made that you NEED injectors and fuel pump with the 18gs or else theres no differance, is also false... the 5 bar works fine .i had one of the first 18 g setups from Todd, for along time. no issues , afrs were always in check.. now if you wanna do injectros as a precuationary measure then go right ahead.
sorry Tony but i would take Todd K's word over yours .

The bigger turbo (18G) is faster, hands down...... but not by so much. I trapped 125.XX with my K24 car. I took 2 runs at the track, who knows if I could have pushed it further with more trial and error. I guess what I am saying is that for someone with K24's to just swap out to 24/18G's is kind of pointless. You might as well go with injectors and a fuel pump at the same time, and I think the same goes with a K16 car. The move is to just do the whole upgrade.

As far as ur 125 mph trap.. its on the money.... however a 18G will trap 129 at 1.3 bars... and if you do injectors, pump , intake ICs.... the trapp may go up only 4 mph vs. 8 mph.... so why not just go to 20gs if it doesnt cost ANYTHING more then a 18G.. MORE HP for same $$$

he ran 1.3 bars and not a 1/10th over... mixed 103 with 109 I think....
it was very cool day- I think in the upper 50s... (Canada)....
K24/18gs, Blown6 ICs, straight pipes, 5 bar, greddy, BMC filter, I think some Chineese made headers... LOl
He also took about 70 LBs out...

ACTUALLY ur right on the money if you would go from K24s to K24/20gs.... trust me I know personally.... my best friend did the developent work on the 18Gs and 20gs on his few P cars some years ago.... he spent considerable amount of money putting different wheels into various housings.... and according to him ( mind you he has had 3 18g and 2 full 20G cars trapping high 130s) - he would go to 20gs with injectors, fuel pump, intake( very important), MAf ect...
MORE HP for same $$$

so that is the upside of 20 G-- what is the downside compared to 18G. How far up the rev range does it move the performance curve?
What about a K24/3070/6 R types-- the same question as above??

I try not to use Dmaffo's example too much since he did everything right...

I agree, it's funny everyone always compares record times and considers it the norm. Temperature, shift points, 60' weight all factor into this equation. A car in FL in the summer won't run 133mph on it's best pass. Turning a car up in the heat to try might lead to some interesting results LOL
btw, the clutch held so far on the dyno.... shy 16 rwhp of 1000
Next,
street /drag.... hope it releases up on top and holds...

On another note, I've seen videos of k24 cars vs. k16/24 cars, and the k16/24 car pulled slightly. When I compare the k16/24's I used to have to my current 18g's, I can tell you that there isn't much comparison...the 18g wins hands down.
Just my $0.02...
