David,
I am really sorry to hear the news. Keep in mind there is a large community here that feels it knows you and your family and all the heartache.
The best thing I can tell you is to celebrate his life and remember him the way he was during the good times not this bad time.
My deepest condolences.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I wish you, and your family, the very best.
You're not alone here, we all feel your pain and have been through this with our own family members. Hopefully, he is in a far better place then the rest of us mortals.
God bless.

Condolences
Even with the anonymity of the Internet I see a group of true friends who are here for you, dbelleperc. What a special place.
I am so sorry for your loss and the way your uncle's last days on Earth were handled (or mishandled). Hopefully there is solace in the fact he got to spend his last moments here with those who he loved and loved him. IMHO that is a blessing.

Well I am leaving for Dallas in a couple of hours driving, to attend his funeral. My uncle leaves San Diego in the morning along with my aunt flying and will be buried at the DFW National Cemetery. So Cole_21 if you can PM with your number maybe we can get together sometime this weekend.
Now the bad news comes, we are getting the preliminary autopsy reports in and he did not die from Cancer but a neoplasm on the pancreas that we just knew that he had and the inept mother's at the so called hospital did nothing about from February of this year. So that is even making it worse. Like I am saying there are a lot of what if's on our part, but a lot of why not's on the doctors parts.
Here is the findings from an MRI on Sep. 8:
Image quality is severely degraded by respiratory motion. Multiple stones are seen in the gallbladder. A moderately large amount of Ascites is detected. Mild intrahepatic ductal dilatation is seen. The common bile duct does not appear dilated.

my condolences to you, am happy that your uncle was surrounded by the people that he cared about in his life.
pancreatic neoplasms are vicious and have about 6 months prognosis if that was the case....
best of luck to the family and hope you get back safely

It may also comfort you to know that even if the pancreatic cancer (neoplasm) had been discovered earlier, it is still nearly 100% fatal. My father died of the same. His doctor initially diagnosed it as Irritable Bowel Syndrome without performing a single test on him. I, as a 4th year medical student at the time, diagnosed it as cancer (I was not sure what type) over the telephone from 1500 miles away. I insisted he get an abdominal CT scan and that is when it was found. He died 3 days after the confirmatory biopsy results returned. It is the 4th most common cause of cancer deaths in men but not the 4th most common cancer.
Again, my sympathies to you and your family. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to pm or email me I'd be happy to discuss this further if you feel you need to or would like to.
