OFFICIAL OCT 08 TEXAS MILE Results thread!

My first Texas Mile.
Man, what a blast! And HOT too. I was able to run 3 times today with a best pass of 170.44 MPH. We left at 3:30 and Tommy was still replacing his drive shaft. He had not run yet. Can't wait til March.
One biker crashed just after trapping a 199. He is OK.

I was at 182 in 5th and held out in that gear and hit the rev limiter about 100 ft. before the timing split. Motor shut down and only gave me 178. I could have done 185.

Actually, I am not stock. DME reflash and just replaced intercoolers. After that run, car would not produce after that. A few guys said I had a cracked intercooler or loose hose. I believe it. I could not get to 170 after that. Boost wasn't there like before. 178 was average, but I am a rookie and have never speed shifted like that. Wish we could have run more. I missed gears several times trying to hurry. Need more practice.

Congrats to all who attended and live to tell the tale :-) Wow 241 now that is impressive numbers! Sorry I was not there but I really tried but unfortunately hurricane Ike and other factors out of my control prevented me from being there... but there is always hell run!!!!!!!!!!

Peter and Tim, it was great seeing you guys out there today!
If you all haven't been to a mile event, you should try to make it out next March....it's a really good time attended by generally great folks.
I think SPI gets the award for most passes. Maybe 12 in total? Tym managed to hit 194.9 at 1.3 bar. But he wasn't able to hold boost in 6th or else he would have cracked 200. Now that he has the data to make a tuning change, I'm sure he'll be back next March.
SW's 241.8 run was off the hook. Being there at the finish line watching that car punch a hole was really something else.... That car will hit 250 next time out with a taller tire.
VR blew up his much hyped Supra yesterday and ran 208 (IIRC) today in his gutted 996.
Tommy's customer's Supra showed some promise on its first run at 216 (IIRC), but blew a pipe attempting a higher boost run.

I will definitely be better, cause I can't get any worse. Nothing like being there with a high profile car and the driver missing shifts and not really knowing how to even do the run. It was a good learning experience.

super hard launch has no effect on your trap speed in the quarter mile.
(It may have helped you do it in a quicker amount of time but that is not the goal)
Granny launch and shifting just beyond your peak torq RPM is more effective
as it keeps your car pulling hard and it does not overheat your overworked
intercoolers on a day like you guys had.
Great runs in your GT2, congrats!

That 241 run by S.W. is just an amazing accomplishment, Wow!!
He is such a true representation of an enthusiast, very cool.
V.R.'s run is also quite an accomplishment as no other water cooled Porsche has ever
broken 200 let alone gone 208 or 212 mph!
It is disappointing to hear that the 997TT did not crack 200 mph ??? This car should have been able to do it easily, however anyone who has actually gone down there realizes what an improvement of even 2-3 mph is, it any easy on game day as they say!
Anyone know what the other Porsches ran and who/what Z06 ran over 200 mph??
What is done to said Z06 (full motor build to run 250 shot?), stock transmission in 5th??
See everyone there in March

Awesome day yesterday, and even better to put some face's with names on here. Congrats to everyone for putting up great numbers. Had the heat not come on later in the day some of these p cars would have run a lot faster!
Next event we'll be ready in the SWDR GT700 car.
