Track day at Road Atlanta with 996TT
Guys,
Sorry to summarize so much but this damn site has erased most of my post as I am typing it twice. It gets to a point and then poof it erases most of it before I can post it. Here goes. At Road atlanta DE, 6pot fronts with padig yellows and stock turbo rear brakes with pagid blacks were KILLER!!! I pushed them hard and they did not flinch. PSS9 on full stiff is the way to go on track. Was on 3F 2R (street setting) and handled well but full stiff (1,1) was MUCH better. GT3 rear bar on full stiff and trg front sway on second to softest, car handled nicely. Road atlanta is one hell of a track with lots of speed. My UMW 2zc ran without a hiccup on 93 pump. Down the back straight I was hell on wheels. No cel or hiccups and I ran the **** out of it. I still thought it could be modulated nicely, If you were too abrupt on the throttle it would difinitely break traction but just pay attention and be smooth and elastic on the throttle and you will be fine. Special shout out to Craig at rennstore for the pagid hookup, UMW for an awsome turbo set up, Neil Orton at Orton performace for brake install and track support and the guys at the racers group for the adjustable drop links and front sway. Rear was from Viper Bob. Thanks to all that have helped make my little tippy so much fun on such a tough track to tame. I can't want to run it on track tires. Made it to group 4 this time. Also like to thank Mikelly for his great brake thread as he is right about the bigger rotors and calipers and the fluid. I was able to run down almost anything on the back straight with ease. There were difinately faster drivers and better track setup cars but as far as draggin down the back straight I was getting it done! Had a great time and most of all thanks to Peachstate PCA for running such a good event. You guys rock!!!

Great time was had by all who did not wreck. Seems like someone always does as this track is not forgiving. A little cold Sat morn but warmed up and Sunday was perfect! Someonehad a new red GT2 there and lots of turbos and GT3s. Great event.

Silver, I made my way down to the Orton tent to check out some rides but I didn't see yours at that time. I guess you were out on your session. Is your UMW 2ZC the 16/24 hybrids?
I did talk to Neil about his new Dyno... Sounds pretty cool.
Al's car sounded like a beast down the front straight (ok, more like a jet fighter of some sort).
The weather was awesome sunday. Saturday wasn't too bad either. At least the track dried out early!
My second time on track with the turbo thus, still learning to drive the car... but I loved every second of it.
Can't wait for my next event in November.

I was in group 3 but did get a checkride to go on to group 4 at the next event. I was parked over on the left when you pitout close to the classroom building(media center) under the pine trees near the bathroom. My car was the silvertt with red numbers 36 and red tape on the mirrors. I was not at Neil's tent but did go over there visit for a while. Hope you had fun. I know I always do there. There was a red 997 GT2 running in this goup and also in group 5. Must have been 2 people driving it. Oh yeah, mine are the 16/24 hybrids with zero clearance and the wastegates from UMW. Car was making great power and never missed a beat. I would have like to see Al's car, I hear it is a BEAST.

The 997GT2 was being driven by 2 brothers. Nice guys from NC. I took a ride in that car last month and with the only modification being R6 Hoosiers, it was quite impressive. Had only 800 miles on it at that time. Not even time enough to get the tag yet. That new stability management system is a lot nicer than the one on my 996.

I was there, spectating. There had to be 10 or more 996 TT's out there. It was a beautiful thing to behold. The 996 TT is officially the new M3, but much faster.
Al Norton is getting mega fast at RA now too. He had no one to play with.
