996 Turbo 2002 - OverBoosting

Looking at a standard 996tt with the original software inside the ECU.
Vehicle is over-boosting and peaking at around 1.5bar on WOT.

Haven't had chance to look at the wastegates yet to see if they are sticking. Is there any other common problems that cause them to overboost?

Cheers

Remember, last 3/4 days here in UK temps have dropped to 3 degrees, I looked last night and it was 2 degrees, not saying that is the issue... but it's good for some extra boost. Thought you had the Greddy... can you not crank it back?

Yes. Check your vacuum hoses at the factory solenoid at the "Y" air intake just to the right of it near the throttle body. Sometimes a Mechanic will forget to hook it up or it might pop off. The solenoid is gray and rectangular in shape about 2 inches long and has 3 vacuum hoses & electrical plug. The hoses are as follows, 2 hoses from the front with 1 straight & 1 lower and 1 hose from the rear which is the supply from the intake. If it is not attached you can run 1.1 - 1.3 with spikes beyond that.

That sounds like a excellent place to start. Will get my mate to drop the car off next week and will have a full day to check everything out.

Its not my own TT.. that I must say is running excellent with the K24/18g setup.. Out standing performance, just wish I could get some good race fuel round here..

Its a lads 996tt I know who brought it round today for some diagnostics as it flashed the dash light at him a few times..

Intake leak could do this also. Pressurize your intake and find the leaks.

1.4 on pump gas is ok and 1.5 on race gas would be ok, what turbos? Check the boost control valve. I had problems with mine due to boost control valve. I used to see 1.6 bar.
