996TT catastrophic engine failure...

If you knew the greddy was NOT working properly then why did you make 5 hard pulls without even checking the boost? You my friend blew up the car...
you probably hooked something up wrong and ran full boost cause at 1.1 or even 1.3 bars you will blow anything up.... but at 1.5 bars on pump and in 3rd gear your likely to start causing damage...
BTW, did anyone tell you to not get on it for at least 100 miles? you need to break the turbos in.... had you done preventing basic steps you may not be in the situation your in now...

Mark is right though even with the greddys off it should only hit .9 to 1 bar i just tried it Saturday.
If you had an oil leak prior to this then you may have run the pump dry and welded and over heated the rod bearing. Not fun!!
I am sure you didnt mean to but this is life and it sucks when the car is down! hope it not on the really bad side! but it maybe. Sorry..

I'll keep everyone posted as we progress with the tear down.

If it is reading low oil pressure I can bet its not because it overboosted. It sounds like the oil pump failed.
If it overboosted the car would have detonated shooting a rod through the side of the motor, or bending a rod. You would not have a low oil sign due to that.

Iam very sorry to hear what happened. You seem very calm and reasonable (which is alot better than I would be). I hope the problem is not as bad as feared. I will watch for your reply on the extent of the damage and the remedy...

Sorry about your luck, its hard to diagnose your problem as I sit on my couch 2,000 miles away and I wouldn't want to make any assumptions. With that being said you have no idea how high the boost was set to and It could very well be your problem.I am not going to jump all over you for wanting to try the car before it was ready, but at least now you know the price of doing that.I really really hope its not as bad as i think..
Corey are you paying att?

The Greddy box would not allow me to set the settings and that is why I killed the power to it before leaving the garage. As far as detonation... I never heard anything weird... the car just shut down!

What do you think about that strange oil leak???

Sorry to hear about the bad luck, Rick. I hope it's not a major issue, but from what you describe, it doesn't sound like that will be the case.
If it's serious, you may want to consider a crate motor from Kevin. I believe that's the route Tom Kerr went, and it seems like he's been satisfied. If you're looking to save a few $$, a used "drop-in" may not be a bad idea either...

As bad as this sounds it might be "better" to consider a replacement engine. The carnage that may lie in your engine will stagger your wallet. Crankshaft, rods, pump, intermediate shaft = $7,400 and that not counting labor, gaskets or other issues that might arrise from the lack of oil to the vario-cam modules.
PM if you are interested in a crate motor or a "used" drop in.

rick man i hate to speculate on the problem.. it may be the oil pump .. but who knows. have your tech look at it. if need be Kevin is the man to talk to for motors hes a good guy and helped out alot of people. but i hope its not the case .
One more thing you said you killed the greddy before you left the house , so it would of been running off the wastegate spring so i higly doubt you over boosted.
