I agree with you guys, the problem is that it is impossible to know if your diff is fried or not, vbmw, so you may have done it and fried your diff.

aside from taking the diff apart, is there any way that you will know that it is shot? I know Mike, ttboost, had a fried one and never knew it.

 

I recently had a full inspection of my car , the mechanic said all looks good. How can you tell if the diff is fried? Even if it did , my easycare should cover it.

This shop has dynoed at least a dozen 996tt on their dyno by now, havent heard of one fried diff yet.

 

This was me, I have 2 sessions of about 16 runs total on a DynoDynamics, (the latest being last week) with no issues that I know of. From multiple conversations people aren't so much concerned with the power up, but the power down synchronization of the rollers. For kicks I drove on in 4-5 inches of snow this morning, I needed a wash anyway, the front is definitely getting torque split but think I also found a way forward on testing the front differential but I honestly don't anticipate any issues.

 

Mike(ttboost) had a good idea on another thread. He wanted to put his car on awd dyno and have the rollers free roll, then let the car in 1st gear slowly move and see if the fronts do anything. If they do then we know it works. if not then the diff may be fried.
