Need help with a Dyno question...please.

Is the AWD Dyno Dynamics OK for our cars? Or does the front diff need to be disconnected. TIA

I know the subaru guys have to worry about different speeds in their awd's, so there is a dyno in Springs that tunes Subbies. They should be able to do it. But instead we could get a Vbox and use that method to measure hp? Chris and I have talked doing the dyno down his way. There is also an awd dyno off parker road somewhere

Here's a link to some specs. Says it will do viscous-coupled AWD but I can't find any mention of the drums being linked which is what you really need to know.

Front diff has to be disconnected, from experience.

Artiza,

what was your experience?

I specifically sought out a AWD Mustang becuase of mechanical linking that I heard
was critical. This is only what I had heard to be 100% sure. AWD Mustang reads fairly
low as compared to 2WD dynojet (obviously). AWD DynaPack like Kevin (UMW) and
Protomotive have also obviously works.

Here is my experience with Dynos ranked in most conservative.
dyno dynamics, mustang dyno, dyno jet or dyno pak. Dyno dynamics generally shows less 90HP than dyno jet and 50-60Hp less than mustang dyno. Based on my experience, we will see how she performs this saturday at 1/4 mile, my proto set up is completed.

update on DynoDynamics. The dyno shop claims that the drums are linked electronically and will rotate at exactly the same speed. Should this not be sufficient. One member has several pulls on this dyno with a 996tt, with no apparent problems that I know of.

can anyone say if the DD with electronic link for and aft is good for our cars.

Too many questions with DD. I tried one and was told the drums were linked, however when we started off at 15 mph the rear was spinning and the front barely twitching, so we took it off. I wouldnt risk it.

I have dynoed my car several times on a AWD Dynodynamics without disconnecting the front diff. I found it to be the lowest reading dyno for sure.
