dtmarsh, I don't think you can use someone elses hybrids and have Kevin flash for you. He will flash stock turbos and turbos he builds himself only, I am pretty sure, but when he sees this thread he may chime in.
No, I'm talking about buying Kevin's turbos. If I do, do I need a new upgraded flash, or no?
Kevin, where are you;-)???

I am pretty sure you cannot get Kevins turbos without his tune, nor should you want to. He builds the turbos, who better than him to tune them. His tune is second to none

That would make sense. I went w/ GIAC flash and blew too many MAF's. Then I went with EVOMSit and Hitachi MAF (against Kevin's recommendation); now, if I do UMW turbo's, I may need a UMW flash. Sheesh. Can anyone recommend a therapist I need professional help.

well his tune will be the last one you need. He won't string you along so lean that you will blow a motor. give him a call, you won't regret it.

I have seen and heard of so many issues with kits up at this altitude it's not funny. 6000ft and 91 pump gas is not good for tuning. Yet 50+ runs with hitting redline several times on 91 at 1.3 bar and the car never shuts down or has issues.

amd custom tune that took a few months to get done due to my not being able to take time to test the vehicle often enough.

I think the trick is the 5 BAR FPR. Otherwise you're near the fueling limit at 1.2 BAR or so.

16/24s definitely spool faster than 24s. Are you holding 1.3 BAR in the higher gears near redline? Butt dyno and side by side runs with a 16/24 equipped car that had virtually identical mods as my K24 car showed better throttle response on the hybrids and a bit more power up top on the K24s. Virtually a tie with teh hybrids jumping 1/2 car forward on every shift and getting reeled in by the next shift. My impression was that the 16/24 hybrids had more back pressure up top.

16/24s are the way to go with a stockish setup unless you're going for 700 HP, injectors, etc..

Ari, this is not a K16/24. The compressor is the new GT2 wheel that Kevin has made even more efficient. I am seeing consistent 1.2-1.3 and I have peaked at 1.4 on pump gas. The spool up is so fast, it's not even funny. If you tap the throttle at 2000 rpm you make boost immediately. These turbos are designed to go much higher in hp and as they are with current fueling I will hit the new 7-7200 rpm redline like if it wasn't even there. the motor seems to pull hard all the way through redline with no letup.

One thing is that it does not feel as fast as it is because the turbos are building power so early on that I was waiting for the punch and it never came.

When I upgrade, this is what I think is the current ultimate (no pun intended, really) street level of reliability, lack of drama (read lag), and power.

well there is not much drama and it first it had me dissapointed, until I started walking cars that I did not think I could, then I realized how much power and how linear it really is. About the best way to explain it is that the motor feels like you have 6 liters or more from the start.

when I get a chance I will video the rpm/boost during a run

Just for clarification, I don't have the ZERO clearance units, and I don't have the new GT2 internals...

Mine's the OLD SCHOOL K16/24s and I hold a solid 1.2bar boost with it in 6th gear as fast as I can go (without going to jail) and in 5th gear to redline with zero issues... The car pulls and makes max boost to redline... I've only been brave enough twice to run 6th deep into the revs (above 6500) and the car made 1.2 bar with zero issues and held it.

Dennis can you elaborate a litle more about your turbos? are they the 16/16g Hybrids that everybody was talking months ago but nobody actually posted real results on them.

I have talked to Kevin UMW before and would like to go this route for my christmas present if I can make sure those k16/16g work? Also why is the price so much higher from the $3,500 advertised from Vivid or EPL?

Thanks
