UMW stage 2A another believer born

Honestly, I have no clue what is involved in the stage 3 kits, since I will probably never go that high. I will go to stage 2b and cap myself there next year. 600whp and 600w-ft-lbs of torque is more than enough for me.
But contact Kevin and he can explain it all. All I can say is that it is reliable hp.

I may be wrong but I doubt the 2b or 2c will reach 600whp. I had a 2a and liked it alot but the highest # I got was around 510rwhp and 490rwtq

I have been told by several people that 600-650 reliable whp is pretty close to the limit for internals. There turbos get up there and also produce considerably more torque than comparable hp kits.
Kit 2a is not approaching limits, but 2b abd 2c both hit 600 whp and boatloads of torque. The next kit, 3a, 3b is at the limit.
considering all the blown motors you see around here this should make sense.
making hp is not so hard, making it reliable is a whole different story.

yes, you are wrong.

it's not only the horsepower, it's the torque these kits produce. I see other 700 whp kits producing the same as these 600 whp kits, but these kits are putting out that torque at 1000 rpm lower or more than the other kits. at 3100 rpm the stage3a is already at 500 ft-lbs.

Christian, Although I agree that you will not see 600 WHP, I think your numbers were an anomoly. Mine you, I have yet to dyno my car, but the performance I've seen and the times I've run at the track with practically zero traction pretty much back up the claims Kevin has for my older setup, about 535-540WHP on 93 Octane... Running 11:24 @ 127mph is about right in that target, even with hooking hard enough to pull the front wheels off the ground...And that was BEFORE I upgraded from the Upsolute S/w and wastegat springs/ 5Bar FPR!

Mike, how long you been running your kit? I think you or wross have been running it 4 years? Maybe Wross. 4 years and no bent rods, broken turbos or busted engines.
I guess this is the point of these kits. reliable horsepower.

And 1/4 mile them too. ET and trap speed are very telling - seat of the pants can be indicative of a power increase, but not when upgrading to a new level because of course larger turbos will feel much better and faster than a previous smaller turbo package.
I think Christian has a very good request...it would be interesting to see Mustang AWD figures and curves on these cars, especially from a Mustang with a known baseline such as EPL's or Vivids, which produce similar numbers. But with that said, IMO, dynos are not the best judge of how a car will run - real world runs, such as 1/4 mile are.

I bought my car about 20 months ago, but the folder that came with the car had receipts showing that the turbos were bought and isntalled on the car in 2002. So that would indicate that the car's been running these turbos for about 6 years... The previous owner did some dyno runs and the sheets were showing 510WHP and 532#ft. of torque with the old upsolute software and stock FPR/ Wastegate springs. It was dyno'ed repeatedly here: http://www.currysauto.com/highperf.htm The previous owner, David Licciardelio worked with a number of vendors trying parts on the car and he had the car at that dyno on over 20 occassions, according to that shop. They knew the car well, and remembered it when I was setting up time to do a dyno session with them... It never happened, and in the end, to me, I could care less what it "makes" with Kevin's setup, because after driving the car for 10 months with the upsolute software, and then driving the car for another 10 months with Kevin's software, both on the street and in road course applications, I KNOW the car is making MORE POWER. Not a seat of the pants thing... Sorry, sell that somewhere else...
