UMW stage 2A another believer born
Ok, it has been a few months to get the tuning on this one sorted out due to mostly two main issues, fuel (91 octane) and altitude (6000ft), both of which are not conducive to power making. However, after several recent runins with other vehicles, there is no doubt power on this one is strong.
The car is equipped with DV's, 5barPR, wastegate kit, and K16 hybrids(more on these later)
The car runs as good if not much better than stock and you could not tell that there is a kit installed.
I decided to go with UMW since Kevin was the only one who actually questioned me about altitude and octane and other factors. The others tuners programs seemed to just work at any altitude so they said. Since I know altitude makes a difference I went with UMW.
The power is so linear that I do not feel the turbos kick in, they just seem to ramp up so evenly that I do not know it's happening. It makes the car feel like it is slower than it really is.
You can tell from the pics below that the turbos have lots of work in them.
So many people talk about K16's running out of juice at low 6k rpm. Well, that was my first shock in these. They pull strong well past 7000 rpm's with no hint of letup. The K16's are heavily modded units that bare little resemblence to a std. K16. They have UMW's proprietary Zero Clearence work on new GT2 compressors, making for some extremely efficient turbos. These turbos are designed for much more fuel, which I will eventually upgrade too. Just thoght I would share some info since you do not hear to much about UMW's new kits. here are some pics:

Everyone who has ridden in or driven my car has been shocked at how fast it is, how hard it pulls thru redline, and how well it is behaved in traffic and around town.
Kevin knows his stuff when it comes to maxing out the K16/24 setup!

I hear nothing but good about Kevin and his products. I've talking to him a couple times and I think he really knows his stuff. He sold me a Sachs LWFW kit and it's been wonderful. To bad he lives so far away.

Mike, what boost were you holding above 5000rpm?Also what other mods have you done to your engine? When i had k16/24 isaw great difference from k16 between 2 and 5krpm but above 5krpm no big deal...and the boost was 1.0bar above 5000...

OK, maybe this is a question for the man himself, but I have a stage 2 car w/ EVOMSit flash and Hitachi MAF, AWE exhaust and stock turbos. Can I just bolt on Kevin's K16/24 turbos and rock?, or do I need a new flash upgrade, etc?

I had the chance to meet Kevin this September. Great guy and he really knows his stuff. He flashed my car and added diverter valves. This extra power wiped out my clutch, so I now have Kevin's LWFL set up. I'm wondering now if the next step would be to add his K16 turbo's on? What else would be needed?

I don't know about mike, but my car holds 1.3 bar consistently and I suffer from no shut downs of any kind.
dtmarsh, I don't think you can use someone elses hybrids and have Kevin flash for you. He will flash stock turbos and turbos he builds himself only, I am pretty sure, but when he sees this thread he may chime in.

My setup is as follows:
K16/24 NON-Zero clear turbos
Upgraded Wastegate springs
5Bar FPR
Bailey DVs
X50 Intercoolers
SAMCO hoses
DGI 70MM exhaust
LFWF/Clutchmasters clutch "stuff"
My car pulls to redline making 1.2bar boost and my rev limiter has been raised to 7200RPMs. I can pull 1.2bar boost in 6th from a roll at 65-70MPH with zero issues... The car simply pulls like a freight train, and a couple guys here and in the Mid-Atlantic section have seen first hand what I'm stating...

Well, I am pretty sure that on pump gas this setup would be hard to best. It is so well tuned. the 1.3 is on pump gas (91 octane) and these turbos will blow the heads off the engine easily if not tuned right. Kevin is very conservsative and wants to keep your car running. Like I said before he is the only one that asked about altitude and octane I would be using.
If you know anyone in Denver, I would be more than happy to compare on pump gas.
Keep in mind that this kit has stock fuel delivery. According to Kevin, these turbos become monsters when the fueling upgrade is done.

Those turbos look great! Glad you're happy with the setup. I really liked my k16/24's...they had lots of power and very little lag.
Please get some 60-130 times for comparison. I know I'd love to see some, especially since there aren't any UMW times on the official list.
Enjoy in good health!!

Bill, trust me, I have done over 50 hard pulls. His program takes care of all issues. These turbos are so efficient it is unbelievable.
