How do you do it if you don't have the spoiler hydraulics on your car? Can you hook up air pressure to the spoiler rams (which are held down by springs I think) and raise the spoiler to do the removal?

Reading down past the OP would have beneficial to me prior to buying one of the tools on ebay for $25 lol. Oh well, got the tool now, and it worked fine.

Yea I just did it. Literally took 30 seconds to unhook both sides and remove the wing. Watch the video he posted and you'll see how easy it is. (in the video, the driver piston attachment seems to continue to turn, dunno if that was oem or not. But you only need to make about a 130 degree turn for it to fully unlock the spoiler.)

The beer wrench does not work at all. It does not fit right inside the ram and slips away from the inner cylinder when spinning it. I ordered the right tool instead.

I have a bike crank and bottom bracket tool from Park tools and it worked fine. If you are friendly with your bike shop they may let you borrow theirs. That being said, my CF wing came with all the tools for removal and install

Well crap...I just got the beer wrench

Can it be modified to work? Like does it need to fit inside the hole more?

Modified beer wrench?

I did a little grinding to see if the beer wrench would work. No go. The proper wrench has a 5 mm **** for lack of better description which need to fit in the inner shaft recess in order top clamp the spoiler back. The recess is very shallow and the beer wrench just slips out. You end up by spinning the outer tube when you rally need to rotate both parts at the same time in order to engage the spoiler.

Beer wrench worked.

I had to grind it into this shape.

I had no issues with mine. Not sure if they changed the "end nipple" but looks like a file/grinder should shape-it-up.

Yep, but what I need now are a couple washers to add to the washer/spacers provided. Of course I can't find crap locally...

Correction. Lowes has them. They are called machine bushings in one of those special drawers in the nuts and bolts aisle.

And those are installed under (before) the hex nut on the spoiler itself, right? Not slipped over the piston shaft...?

Same here. In fact the ones at lowes are the exact same thing.

7/8 ID 1 3/8 OD and 18 gauge. Lowes has those and a little thick 14ga.

The 18ga are about 1mm thick and the 14ga are about 2mm thick.

I'm trying to decide how much I want to add.

I think I will try just one. Just want it to disconnect from the deck lid. It's plenty high enough for my taste in the up position.
