i'll make a post about the entire built soon, right now i'm just organizing hundreds of pictures that i've taken during the built; the thing kept me from posting everything is because i'm not even halfway done with the built.

2003 Turbo bought it March 2007 for $63k. Had my dealer get it from auction and had him finance me so there was no haggling at time of purchase. Had 32k miles in mint condition. had 6 months on factory warranty at time of purchase.
Since then sold. Coming back stronger with 2009 Turbo!!

I've been on the hunt since September in the NYC area. Sure I've found a bunch under $50k, I even have one that's got some issues but runs who's owner is willing to part around 35k (all 01/02's between 20-35k miles). My brother also owns a used car dealership and has given me access to see the auction prices’ and is willing to take me to the auction (don't think I am up for the risk factor of that). At auction these can be had left and right in the 35/40 range.
BUT.....The 996tt's that I have a good feeling about and seem to be in great order sold from reliable Porsche specialists (02's w/ less then 25k miles) are around $52/55 range.
Since this will be my yr round DD and I don't have unlimited pools of $$$ I'd rather spend the extra cash up front and feell comforatable about purchasing a car in good condition from a reputable place that offers some sort of warranty.
Just my approach..

November 2002 for $125K when the car had 1500 miles.
It also had $50,000 in mods and was on the road for 6 mos at the time.
I was covered under the original warranty until 2/06 and then had it "Certified" by a Porsche dealer for another 2 years of warranty. None now.
The car now has 10,280 miles and is for sale at $57,500. Trust me, good ones are getting bought up b/c they are cheap and these 2nd/3rd owners will hold them for a while.
