Awesome guys, now that there is quiet a few responses, I will throw this stuff in a spreadsheet as soon as I get some time.
Hopefully, I will be able to post something in here in the next 10-12 weeks (as in, a new owner).
Cheers, and enjoy your cars!

I saw/stole this format from M3forums, and i think it is very helpful for future 996TT owners, so if you don't mind, please share!
1) How much did you pay for your used 996TT?
2) When did you buy it?
3) Year and mileage?
4) What was the original price, and how much did you bargain down?
5) Did it come with the warranty, or did you buy one, or neither?
Thanks, TK

5) Got the price down then added the warranty(GE 3 Star Plus, $2900) which
brought it back to the just about original asking price.

I am looking for a 2005 Turbo S and I thought this might be a good thread to try to find out what I might be missing in regards to what I see as wildly different prices. Any thoughts would be great -- or suggestions to move my question somewhere else would be great.
For example, on Autotrader there are several cars with about the same options (but different colors).
2005 Turbo S - coupe - 20K miles for $80K -- asking
2005 Turbo S - coupe - 7K miles for $78K -- asking
2005 Turbo S - cab - 8K miles for $89K -- asking
2005 Turbo S- cab - 10K miles for $94K -- asking
On this forum in the past month or so...
2005 Turbo S - cab - 26k miles - $64K -- sold
2004 X50 / PCCB / aero kit- cab - 14K miles -$65K-- sold
If I compare the Turbo S mentioned here, and the adds on the commercial site, seems there is a tremendous difference. Using the above, in one instance there is a $30K price difference for a car with $16K more miles.
So the question in all this. Are the prices in Autotrader that much out of wack with the current market? What is a "fair market price" for a 05 Turbo S? Aside from the "price is what the buyer is willing to pay etc..." Not trying to insult anyone with "low ball offers" and trying to be somewhat informed in any negotiating process.
I hope I do not offend anyone with my questions, I am new to the site (coming over from the "other" forum)...

So Paul - the "other" forum huh - well me too! Was on Rennlist for a long time and still do visit - but I have found this forum to be more like Rennlist was a few years ago. To get to your question - I bought the 05 TT -S Cab for $64k - it was priced about right for the current situation. The reason - lots and I mean lots of these cars are coming off lease and the lease holders (read big banks, AIG etc) are caught in the financial issues we all read about. The longer you wait the more the price will come down - I just did not want to wait - I had cash and the desire. The people who are trying to sell cars at the higher prices are mostly dealers who have had the cars for a while and are probably upside-down on them now. They are trying to survive! The true value of the car is as you say - whatever someone is willing to pay. That said I think that 05 TT-S are right priced in the high 50's - mid 60's depending on miles, carfax report, and color combination. So keep looking and if you find the one you really like make an offer that you feel is fair based on what people are really paying in this day and circumstance. And use the recent sales you have seen here as proof of the realistic offer you make. Let us know how you make out.
