Is it worth the change. 996TT Vs. 997 TT
#16
In pure financial terms...it is a horrible choice. On other terms (feelings/desires), the choice is not a clear one. To change for change's sake....very expensive. I could not afford to do it for that reason.
My art/architect friends feel the 996 is a more "cool" look...the 997 retro is somehow less creative (as it is an older design)....opinion odd to me at first, but the new panamera has 996ish lights.....
If it was 5k to switch, I'd do it though.

At some price point it is probably worth it. i have been thinking about what that price point is for me, maybe it's 20-25k or so i am pretty sure we aren't there yet, but who know's if the economy keeps getting worse. It could set up as reasonable move.

I would hold off for a bit. You have a fantastic car, and one that I am sure you can still play with and make even better. I would see what the market does here in say 6 months. I would also see what else Porsche is coming out with next - I would not be surprised to hear them coming with something updated. Then what will you do.
If you have the cash and money isn't an option - and you don't care about taking the hit - then maybe go for it.
Otherwise - keep what you have and enjoy the crap out of it!

I am one of the few, that actually like the styling of my car a million times more than the 997TT
I think the newer porsches and ferraris get, the less classy and the more plastic they are getting and its all computer controlled...doesnt have that raw feel to it...just like from the 993 to the 996

So much financial pain for so little gain. Hard to justify such a move unless you don't care about money and think that the interior/exterior differences are critical to your enjoyment. It might be a more reasonable exchange if the difference between the 996TT and 997TT were much more pronounced.
Sounds like you have a really great car. Keep it and continue to enjoy it!
