Guide to Removing OEM Rear Wing Hydraulics
Does anybody have an effective guide to this as it does not seem so straighforward & also fixing the warning light electrics as the spoiler will not rise. This way I can get some more weight out

hope that is good for you

Mine slowly leaks out the base of the lifts. About every 6 months I get the warning light. I have located the the wires that power the pump at the harness in the engine compartment. I disconnect the hydrolic lines to the base of the lifts and put them in a cup of the Pentosin hydrolic fluid and energize the pump with 12 volts and it refills....good for another 6 months. I cant find a rebuild kit for the lifts and I cant see spending $900 on 2 new ones when its just a seal!.....so its me and a $15 bottle of Pentosin

To remove the hydraulic pump and motor do as follows:
1. Remove the 10 mm nuts/bolts holding the black plastic lid liner.
2. Since you are keeping the posts, you need to open the hydraulic lines somewhere - perhaps at the base of the posts and drain the fluid. Disconnect the hydraulic lines there.
3. Remove four nuts holding motor/pump assembly to lid, disconnect wires and remove.
4. Reverse assemble.
This is all pretty easy to do. Your spoiler won't move, of course. You will probably lose more in high speed downforce in the tail than you benefit from weight loss.

ok very helpful fast fwd, and Pentosin should do the trick if I need to reinstall I guess ?? I already have a Techart replica carbon spoiler which sits off the base when down and so will reduce lift by default: All I need is the new wiring harness as there seems to be no clear working fix for the warning light otherwise

When mine fails again and I am not under warranty, I am going to remove everything and cut the rams off, weld backing plates to bolt to the decklid and reinstall in the permanently up position. This is the least amount of weight and still gives all the necessary downforce.

i've had my share of drama with these silly hydraulic pumps. Honestly it's not that heavy. It's a decent amount of weight loss if you remove the rams too (pretty sure they're heavier than the pump itself), but you obviously need the rams still to hold your wing blade. Are you okay with having your wing stay in the down position all the time? You're not worried about the reduced downforce at speed?
There's a thread around here somewhere that has the combined weight of the whole system (pump and 2 rams). You can divide by 3 to get a rough estimate of the weight of the pump.
