Ran a 5.8 second 60-130 this morning!
Emptied the tank of pump last night and put in 5 gallons of Sunoco Maximal (leaded 114).
It was a cold morning (about 48 degrees) which more than compensated for a bit of headwind). I headed south on "Mexico 59."
After a warm up I reset the Driftbox and merged onto the highway. I did a 3rd gear pull starting from 45 but the car was detonating due to the cold. I got caught up in some traffic but eventually found a relatively unpopulated stretch where I ran her hard.
The car was still experiencing some detonation and shuddered from 5 to 7.5 K in 4th (must have been pulling timing) but I was hell bent on taking the risk all the way until the speedo hit 140. I shifted into 5th and gently applied the brakes just in time to meet the upcomming traffic. Putting along w/ the flow I looked over and saw the driftbox read 5.8 seconds!!! I was elated.
I will be sending the files in for verification as soon as I get home from work.

Congrats Sean.
Now that you've got your damn 5sec pass you must relinquish the DriftBox to me so I can play around with it. Hopefully after this weekend the ol Black ***** will be running in tip top shape again.

You also need to get a damn boost gauge. I want to know what boost you are actually making on the runs. I know Jamie was running 1.5bar or so. You have a smaller turbo and a heavier car so I'm going to guess in the 1.6/1.7bar range. Don't go by what your dash says or what you THINK the boost controller is setup. If I remember correctly you told me your boost controller does not have any way to show the amount of boost its running. I'm not using this to take away from anything because a 5.8 on a stock motor is flying. I'm saying this because your stock motor may not like that amount of boost really well for an extended period of time.

Thanks you guys,
I was running 1.5 bars according to the OEM gauge. Since the car was bucking and detonating I am very interested in getting a better boost gauge and an A/F meter.
I also want to utilize the new tuning arrangement w/ Todd and Akram.
Also, I need to give some thanks to the people who helped me acieve this goal: Tommy Banh who installed the GT30 kit, Dan at Vivid who convinced me to purchase the GT 30 adapter kit, and of course Todd K from Protomotive who tuned and has coached me through nearly all my mods in the last 2 years (and designed/installed my fuel system).
