Houston Crew: Lets go to the Track!

Mike,
thank God no one taped it. Steve and Ben destroyed us all. Not even close. Those two are good.

You were real fast too, Todd. Now that I think about it, Karting on that track puts a lot more lateral stress on the body than a real car on a road course.
You really have to drive those things like you stole em. Ben was actually drifting a lot of the time and I noticed that I was faster when I drove the Kart at its limit.
Can't wait till next time....lets think about setting a date for 3-4 weeks from today.

Today was great fun guys. I really did enjoy it and I hope everyone else did as well. This is the first of many to come. Todd, you did very well for your first time as did Adam. That last session out i drove well but i certainly think I had a freak kart. i was about .4 ahead of Steve which has never been the case. Normally the most I can ever get from steve is .2 However, after everyone left Steve and I went out in a faster kart and he got me by about .6 ...........I had a massive off on my last lap. MASSIVE. Oh well. Again. Had a great time today.
Peter. I'll call you around lunch time tomorrow.

Peter we ran the full track today steve was running high 53's and I was running low 53's. If your son was running a junior kart he may have been running 1:23's. That will give you an idea of the pace steve and i were running. We went out in faster karts ad steve hit 46's I was in the high 47's. Thats where steve's abilities really start to shine. He is the real deal.

Sean,
Keep in mind that my weight advantage is going to allow me to slide a little more than it would you or Walnut. If you were "pitching" the kart around as I was you would have presumably bogged down quite a bit. Next time i'll do some lead/follow stuff with you. This time I had to establish my dominance to Paulie with all the pre-karting smack talking that was going on.

You got it Paulie. Glad you had fun. My back is a little bruised this morning. I wish you guys could have seen my big OFF at the end of the day. WOT coming off the nascar turn. I was about a kart width to high and the kart never turned in. I kept my foot buried and had a nice offroad excursion.

I'd definatly like some lessons there also, particularly the tight left-hander at the opposite end of the track from the banked turn. The best I could come up with was to brake heavily, turn then out, no matter what angle I took it under gas I was scrubbing off more speed sideways than when braking.

Sorry about the bumps Edwin, some of them were full on slams and one T-bone! Great meeting you and a few others I hadn't had the pleasure before also.
Ben, thanks for organizing it. Whens the next one!?
Highlight: After being punted off on the first turn with the steep run-off bank (downwards) on the first lap three asside with Todd and Chris (who started on front row), rejoining a half lap+ down and catching you guys on the last lap, and some how passing you over the start finish line! Poetic justice!

Paulie,
I didn't run Todd b/c I want to get my A/F issue fixed first... although I think Todd was trying to instigate
Function12,
Thanks for taking the pics!
