I will say this probably has the most bang for the buck in terms of the power increment and overall fun factor. Just do it ...you will enjoy your new car more.

I will say that you cannot go wrong with either tuner,Todd has been great too on answering my questions on the phone and also offers remote tuning via durametric.

For me EPL did it price wise and also a possibility of custom dyno tune in the future when Tony gets to Chicago.

Gl with your selection.
+100. I had narrowed it down to Proto or EPL and it all came down to price for me as well. I have spoken to Todd (Proto) and he's an EXTREMELY knowledgable and friendly guy. I felt bad not going with his tune but I felt EPL's tune was good for my basic needs. I believe that if anyone wants a custom, non-off-the-shelf tune, Proto is hard to beat.

Something to keep in mind... statistics show that people who just get flashes usually will want (a better term may be "yearn") for more power so whoever you decide to get a flash with, ask them what the additional cost is to reflash if and when you decide to upgrade turbos.

EPL + 16G wheels = TLFE @ around $2K all-in and you make FAR MORE power than just "flashing"

Good point but most people will upgrade other things.

Here's my breakdown

  • EPL tune: $1200
  • 16g turbo upgrade: $1200 from blouch - assuming you are using your own K16 turbo.
  • DV
  • FPR
  • plugs

I'd say all in without install is about $2700

With install/dyno, easily all in is $4k+

Food for thought, you will likely want an exhaust and NEED a clutch in the near future with that setup.

Yes you can buy the 24/18k and more goodies ... Crazy prices for Sportec/Ruf (Europe) compared to what is sold in the US..... if you are thinking about bang 4 bucks... I dont know what is the best products... For me quality and no problems is what i was looking for. And ended up with Ruf&Sportec..

The GIAC website says an exhaust MUST be added. Is that true or do you need a new exhaust no matter what ECU flash you get?

I know an exhaust may be recommended, but is it required?
