I am going to try this also, The V1 coil cord makes my otherwise cool looking
interior, very cheesy.
thanks,

If you guys are nervous...a stereo shop could do this in about an hour..they are about 35/hr here....

I plan to go in and get a slightly longer cable in the future....probably in a year or so. It worked right out of the box. I confirmed my wire choices via a TSB on renntech.org for the autodim mirror....generic 996 TSB as it comes standard for our turbos. There is a 997 thread with this on rennlist (orange/black for + and brown for ground). FYI if you have 997's.

Oh, the final piece to the puzzle for me as ditching the escort mount. Great detector (iX)...lousy suction cup solution.

I got this:

It is superb. What Escort should sell out of the box. No more worries about a dented leather dash or broken detector...

I don't know. I think the power cords are similar. I don't think the mounts are....but I would have to defer to a person with a V1.

I don't have a V1...iX....

It is amazing what you can find with google...how I found the mount for the escort/bel units I pasted above.
All I found for V1's were nice mirror mounts...but the 996TT mirror may not be the best to clamp...

Best!

Jeff

One could take this mount and probably (note uncertainty) modify it to work with a V1. It had two holes in it and some push type connectors for the escort connector. One could get it, cut those, and in theory take a VI mount gadget and adapt the things to work together. Probably about 15 minutes with some tools and some flat black paint.... Probably what I would do....if nothing else is out there. This thing is rock solid. Much better than the joke escort unit that comes in the box.

I used the phone connection down by the radio to hard wire my V1. RennTech has a pretty good write up.

Anyone tie the v1 or other detector into one of the OEM dash switches? This was my intention until I realized all the buttons/switches are momentary switches. I need one that is on/off until I push the button again (unlike a garage door button)? I took apart one of the OEM switches haven't figured a way to modify it.

why do you need an on / off? i use a momentary targa top switch. works like a charm. hit it either direction and the door opens hit it again door closes
