Removing tow hook, help!
#17
Again, it's reverse threaded. So clockwise to remove. And lots of WD-40 and patience to let it soak in. A few hours at the minimum given how tight it seems to be. An extension bar will help, but don't overdo it. The car is telling you that something is wrong. So sorry to disagree with another poster, but I would not use the hammer. On some cars (and I haven't checked my Porsche), if you damage the tow hook mount, you have to replace a lot of expensive stuff. So proceed with some caution.

why do you say reverse thread? his is a 996 and both ends of my 996 have standard thread and to remove the tow hook is counter clockwise...I don't know about a 997 like you have...to the op you can look in your owners manual under towing and it will show the direction to put the toe hook in and it is clockwise...so counter clockwise to remove...btw...it is possible to cross thread the stock tow hook and that could be the problem...so lots of wd-40 might help but if it was forced in while cross threading you will not get it out...

I will buy a breaker bar to see if that will do it. Truth betold, the little thing def. didn't give me much leverage.
Hopefully it was not screwed in wrong...otherwise, I really won't be able to run a front plate!

Take off your rear license plate/cover under it there is an opening for a tow hook in the back. Once exposed you should be able to see/feel what kind off thread is it.

Thanks all for your help!
It turns out, it was just screwed in deeper than normal. I purchased the water pipe as suggested, and it turned with ease! Just needed the leverage.
Thanks
