Blew a Tire on a way to work...Tire Pressure Monitoring System?

Update:
www.orange-tpms-usa.com
For those interested in TPMS.
I got a hold of the USA representative for Orange Electronic. He claims that this system will indeed work on the 996 Turbo Wheels. He says that their system is very flexible and will work on all porsche models, ferraris etc. I asked him about a price for a group buy and basically the guy says that if we get 10 guys together we can get this system for $120each+shipping!!!!!
So, how do we put together a group buy???

Thanks to VSEChuck who approved the Group Buy without Orange Electronic having to become a sponsor we have a group buy going:

I assume these were NOT snow or All season tires right?
Since you referrede to how cold it was when this ocurred, maybe the inability of performance tires to work below 40 degrees or so may have contributed to this problem?
I don't get much snow where I live, but once the temp gets in to the 40's for our daytime highs, I put on winter tires for their added grip and flexibility in colder temps.

Had the Orange Electroncis TPMS installed on an 2001 TT. I guess I DO NOT have hollow Turbo Twists. They fit perfectly and it is worth EVERY penny. Very accurate both temp and pressure. Having it hard wired next week - the cigarette power adapter is a POS.

Ignore the electrical tape and the fact that it is not straight or secured, but here is what it should look like. Will post final pics when finished.

I went through a Group Buy with Orange Electronics some months ago, and had to return the box because we finally found out that the hole for the valve stem is different in the Hollow Spoke wheels. The Orange Electronics will NOT fit the OEM Hollow Spokes.
Do a search on Rennlist for their Group Buy if you have questions.

Here are some pics of the Orange Electronics TPMS. Pics are bad, but hopefully you can tell that they are very good quality.

Not sure why Orange hasn't posted these results yet..

Just double checking.....
Just noticed I need two new rear tires (insides are down to cords, oops !!)
So now would be a good time to fit a TPMS.
Boss351 are you sure your wheels are hollow spokes and that the new stems seal ok ?
If so 'll go and renew my order with Orange - had to cancel as the original stems didn't fit.
Thanks Tim

No where near as nice as TonyNJ's install ( https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/2337167-post28.html ), but good enough for now.
2 draw back of installing in this location. Tires location does not match diaplay and glare from the sun.
The nice thing about it is that it is very easy to do yourself.

More on TPMS and Orange...
I spoke with Nigel at Orange at length and it would appear that it's possible to drill and tap the standard turbo twist valve stems M5.0x0.8 then attach the sensors with the supplied hollow screws.
I'm considering doing this as I'm not sure when Nigel will release the 'special' valve stems.
The concern I have is two fold:
1. Weakening the valve stem
2. Whether or not the hollow screws would be long enough to engage the threads securely.
I'm leaning to getting the 'special' valve stems from Nigel - assuming they're available in a reasonable time frame.
Any comments / thoughts ?
PS also posted this question over on Group Buy.

update on TPMS and hollow spokes....
So I ordered a set of replacement valve stems for my hollow turbo twists from the dealer (just as cheap as Pelican).
Removed the schrader valve then drilled 4.2mm diameter hole 10mm deep from the inside end. Then tapped it M5.0x0.8
Took about 10 minutes max for each one.
Nigel at Orange supplied my with some extra long M5 screws and dome pieces to angle the sensor (you could cut & re-use the domes off the original stems).
Went down my local tire shop and they installed them no problem at all.
Great to have a functioning TPMS.
If the idea of drilling / tapping a thread doesn't appeal to you, I understand from Nigel that custom stems are being made over in Taiwan, but maybe delayed due to storms etc.
