The K16s came off today (pics) :)

I've heard you can still do the swap with the bumper on? haha Maybe it's just hard as hell that way!
#17
Anything is possible, but those top oil lines are very difficult to deal with even with the bumper and intercoolers off. To be honest I've never even considered pulling them without taking everything else off first. Good luck with your new found power, you will love the 24's!

Just by thinking about it, I'd get custom dyno based programming for that setup. I'm sure the sudden opening of the exhaust might have an inpact on o2's readings and you'd hate to go lean at .5bar.

Keep in mind the tune i'm running with this setup is for straight pipe setup - so it'll be tuned properly. Also, it's not a full on/off opening at .5 bar, they begin to open up then, and finish opening up just .1-.2 bar later I believe. So it's semi-gradual, not BAM.
I'll post up once the setup is all on and let you guys know if my straight pipe idea works at all heh

Congrats on your decision. Good choice opting for the K24's. I think you will be very happy with them and upgrading will be pretty easy, when/if you choose to...

last summer I changed turbos from k16/24 to k24/18g by myself in my own garage...i did not remove the bumper, just removed the exhaust...I sprayed WD40 about 10hours before removal of the oil lines and then I sprayed again about one hour before...the lines went out easily...Imagine i just used a jack...it wasnt so difficult...some days later when i installed 60lb injectors it was not difficult as well but small hands would be appreciated...Now I am about to change the clutch...But i will use a lift for that

it looks relatively easy to service with the bumper off.
whats the book time for a turbo swap? if it was a complete bolt on, it doesnt look like a big job at all..
g/l to you, hope it all goes well! in for updates

Update!
Ported the stock headers, this was such a pain in the ***!! But ohwell, I went through so many dremel and drill bits. I didn't spend copious amounts of time doing it, so they aren't perfect... But they're much better than they were stock.
Here is a pic to show kind of what they look like originally:
After porting:
