serpentine belt help
My serpentine belt fragd into peices a few weeks ago and the mechanic replaced it with a new one. The dam thing screeched from the get go and he said it would get better, said it was a newer design belt from goodyear that was quieter stretched less. Now he says the tensioner may be the problem. Car was working fine before the change now I can't even put the ac on without the screeching. Any ideas? change belt? change pulley? I already tried to adjust the tensioner bolt counter clockwise. Thanks in advance.

I tried a local indy shop for this and turned out he used a non-OEM replacement belt that was slightly short and caused problems. Got an OEM belt and all was well. Never went back to that guy again.

Mahle (I think OEM) $26, replaced my own, no issues. Look over in Renntech DIY; pictures posted. The old one was just stretched and glazed would squeal when wet

car had 50k miles before the belt gave way; it nearly sliced through some harnesses on either side of the air filter housing. I never knew mahle made belts. I think the old one said continental but the new one says good year. You'd think they make replacement belts similar in size to oem; one thing though is that the ribbed side of the new belt is toothed/ribbed
