Do you happen to know which caliper you have?
Pad selection is going to be dependant on the pad shape for a specified caliper.

The Ferodo stuff that comes with these kits may be OK for the street. I don't know bc all my Ferodos are still in the boxes. You will probably be quite limited in choices for the front. I have the 6-piston monoblocs and don't find much out there for mine. The rear will be easier. I think that same pad is used on some model of Ferrari. Do you mind if the brakes squeel a bit when you come up to stop lights?

I was going to suggest Ferodos for the street, we sell those 90% of the time.
The 8 Pistons are discont'd, so Al Norton is right, it will be a bit tougher.

As far as I know, though, that same 8 piston was OE on the gallardo, no? (Not a Lambo expert, heh)

911GT700 has a very different kit than you guys are making suggestions for.
It's actually an 8-piston Billet Monobloc RACE caliper.
Now that he gave me an accurate description I can make recommendations.

911GT700,
You have a PM.

Thanks

Even if it is a race caliper doesn't that still severely limit the choices for pads suitable for street use. I know he could get pads made, as I do, from Porterfield Enterprises but that sometimes gets pricey.

You are correct that street pad options will be very limited for a race caliper.

The good news is that we would never release an application without at least a couple viable options available. Also, street pads tend to be easier to recommend since everyone seems to want the same thing from a street pad...(1) Quite (2) Disc friendly (3) Low dust (4) Long lasting. I don't need to stock 8 different options like I do with race pads because everyone has such varying personal preferences.

On a side note, the pads for the 6-piston monoblocs are becoming much more readily available than when you first bought your GT kit. What pads have you been running lately and how do you like them?

Hi Gary,

I thought perhaps that might be you. I ran PFC-01 for the majority of last season after the Ferodo problem. I also purchased your 4-piston GT rear kit and used PFC-06 against the 01 fronts since the fronts were nearly done in. That was the last event of the season and I have now installed 06's on the front and bedded them. I have my first test day this Friday. I'm hoping to get better pad wear since the 06 is more of an endurance compound. I'm hoping the torque will be fairly close to the 01's. I've taken 200 lbs off the car and added a good bit of downforce both of which should help with pad longevity. I liked the performance of the 01's but still got short pad life even after putting the 997 rotors on the rear for a brief period. It remains to be seen how I well I like the 06's. I'll update you, if you wish.

Going towards a style of braking lighter and earlier will also help as opposed to the way I used to do it--late and heavy.

I wish I had gone with a full racing setup from the outset. I would've side-stepped a lot of inconvenience and expense. I was getting some pretty high caliper and rotor temps last season and my front seals look pathetic but still no leakage or binding.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are in the process of purchasing these pads right now from SG? I spoke to him a couple times yesterday and I think we just needed info on your rear brake kit as well.

You are absolutely correct. They are hopefully being put on this afternoon. I was in a huge rush yesterday, as it was my only day off to settle the break situation. I actually called racetechnologies and talked to a girl but you were not available. Hopefully it all works out! Thank you for your time.
