tire cleaner

Add me to the camp that would not allow Armor-all in the same state as any car I own. And in the camp that wouldn't use Simple
Green, which is certainly a great all-purpose cleanser, on any wheels I didn't want to discolor or corrode. I do regularly use P21s wheel cleaner, which does the job with lots less risk.

Myth on both. First off, Simple Green can be drinken, that's the selling point NASA used years ago when they first got the product. The owner of simple green drank it to show them it was safe. It does have some alkaline content though (but so do a lot of car washes)
And AA will not ruin rubber or plastic, a lot of people use to say that because their dashes would fall apart and crack, but it's because of how old dashes use to be made, they are made differently now.
Also, AA was reformulized a few years back and is an awesome product. Just take a look at what the real detailers think about it on www.autopia.com
(now I may be mistaken on my information, but I'm pretty sure i'm correct, if you know otherwise let me know)

Hmm...I know that original formula Armor All - even as recently as last year - is STILL bad stuff for the dash.
A mobile detailer (the inexpensive, illegal immigrant kind) used AA on the dash of my company's F-250 Super Duty.
Just as numerous 'detailing' websites report, the chemicals in AA reacted with the plastic of the dash, catalyzed by the heat of the sun, and formed a haze on the interior of the windshield.
You'll never convince me that AA is "safe" to use on plastic & rubber.

They have tested glass cleaners and waxes. They have also promised to do a radar detector test in the near future.
One of the authors routinely posts at roadfly.com. Informal updates to Gurureports can sometimes be found on the Roadfly site.

Do you really think armor all is going to make something that is bad for the dash? They have switched it to a water based product. I'm not worried about convincing you, but it is a staple in MANY MANY detailers arsenol. There are also better things to use though, like 303 protectant. But we are basically talking about dashs, which really these days don't need a coating of anything because of the materials they are made of these days. As I said, i've gone 5 years w/ only dusting my dash in my Acura and it sits out in the sun all day and hasn't faded a bit
So it's all just for looks.
