First Race with RUF RGT RSR on the Nürburgring

First Race with RUF RGT RSR on the Nürburgring

Hello to all Motorsportfreaks,
Shane Fox and Wolfgang Weber did their first race with the RUF RGT RSR on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife this weekend. The first race for Shane Fox in his life and also for his blue RUF called "EMP"! In the training we had rain, Wolfs favourite weather and a 5th place overall (140 cars) in training. Then later in the training it got dry and we had the wrong tyres: Startinggrid 18th place at the end. The race was started by Wolf, best laptime 9min 17 sec. (Nordschleife and GP-course together, 24kms per lap). Then second stint for Shane. Shane began carefully and got faster and faster during the race. With a respectable 5th plave in our class we finished the race without problems. Thanks to the mechanics and to all the RUF´s, who made it happen, that this unbelievable car finished the first race and at the same time it is from the beginning a real opponent to the other competitors.
Next race is on the 23rd of Oct. 2004. And as always we provide rides on the Friday training from 16.00 to 18.00 to everyone who is interested in the RUF-Driving-Experience!

Cheers

Wolfgang Weber

looks extremely nice. are there any engine modifications over the "stock" RGT-RS? any more pics? i would love to see the rear ducktail with the Carbon Fiber wing mounted on it from a good angle, cause i've heard about it but never really seen it in action. great find.

Here are a couple of shots I took in July.

The color-coordinated calipers are a nice touch

They are OZ wheels. It says so right there on the lower half of the pic.

OZ makes wheels for HAMANN too, so you always have two stamps, if you notice carefully there is a RUFF stamp on the spokes too

I saw this car being built at the Ruf Factory and also saw it at the Annual Ruf Trackday at Hockenheim. It's obviously much more stripped and race-prepped than a 'normal' RGT RS. It's gorgeous and the yellow interior contrasts well with the blue exterior.

The wheels are Ruf Modular (built by OZ) and are a designed to be lighter than the normal 5 spoke Ruf wheels.

The RGT-RS uses a GT3 motor, but with some minor modifications, it is putting out about 400hp vs. the GT3's rated 380.

The car is sweeeeeet, definitely one of the finest iterations of the 911.

Guy, is that RSR version using the same double adjustable Ohlins shocks as the normal RGT-RS? Any other modifications that you know of?

Hamann,

I didn't ask any technical questions about it when I was there, as they were still building it and I didn't want to interupt them, so cannot really help much.

Here are two photos from the factory, during construction and one of the completed car at Hockenheim.

It was being built with typical Ruf perfection and looked gorgeous inside and out.
