Ryan,

The Supra powerband is 5-9K. On the 2 referenced 996TT's the band is 3.8 to 8.5K, slightly larger. Twin turboes spool much faster than one much larger turbo. 996's also have a weight advantage. A 1K hp 996TT w/ an equal driver should be a bit faster than a Supra w/ 1K.

I am not agreeing or disagreeing and have no experience with the subject. I am really curious as to what will break. Why not strengthen whatever will break. I think our cars with over 800hp would have an advantage in street racing in AWD vs RWD, particularly from a dig.

Congrats!
+1,000,000%

I do think EVOMs got it this time and found a new horizon for the 996TTs.

Ganbade (Japanese) to other builders.

The Supra has a broader and longer powerband. Nearly as high as in 8000 RPM? That's 1500 RPM all during prime time HP.
That all depends as to how the 996tt is set up. My tt is being set up for 9100 rpm's. I might add the toque will come on around 3400 rpm's.

Rob

You did make over 1000rwhp but not on a mustang and as of yet your car has NO objective data. Further, you would like to know all the details of others builds, but do not want to divulge the particulars of your build

All you had to do was show up at Tx2K9 and drive your car?

LamboTT has a spectacular aura aboutLamboTT has a spectacular aura about
Supra has a way larger powerband in my opinion depending on how high it's reved too. 4000-9500rpm is probably fair depending on the turbo size and boost been ran. The 996TT motor is an excellent motor but I just don't believe it's as easy to rev up to even 8000rpm let alone any higher.

In the end it's a higher displacement motor so it COULD make more power but it's just not as easy, cheap, or tried setup.

Now that I said I think the supra is a better straight line car, I love my 996TT more then my last supra as it's easier to drive and a little more fun on the street then my 1000hp Supra.

+1^^^

My (550awhp) 996tt (18G's) starts building boost at 2500, full boost by 3300 or so, my old 94 Supra (490rwhp) (single T-72) started building boost at 3800, full boost by 4600. Both rev to 7K on pump gas at 19psi. Supra was a cool car, LOVE my 996TT. Supra made 620rwhp on 23psi with C16. Never put race gas in 996... yet

Rob, in all due respect man, all you have to do to compare your car to any other is to run any times. 1/4, 60-130, mile, 0-60, 0-15, time it takes you to get to the grocery store, even some video of confirmed street kills with previously timed cars, etc. Anyone can spin up a dyno to read whatever number they like - I for one have a lot more respect for people who actually go out and prove something rather than talk about it while not backing up anything.

All IMO of course - if you like your car, that's great and all that matters. However you even suggesting any sort of comparisons to the truly well-built high-horespower motor builds out there running hard is rather laughable.

Wrong. You're just repeating (incorrectly) out of context second hand information.

Again you're wrong on just about everything you posted. Not trying to be *** Sean, but way too many generalizations here.....

Jamie,

Do you ever make any post that does not involve me?

Although I have repeatedly rejected your bromantic advances, you still have a hard on for me. Creepy.

9500RPM and likely double the boost. We've had a few engines that requires a 7Bar map sensor to read boost because the 5bars where not enough, yes that's over 65lbs of boost. Normally engines are only run in a quarter mile at these boost levels, but it would be interesting to see one hold up for the entire mile if attempted. That being said we've been running 1/2 studs and even 1/2 L19 studs for over 5 years now to get to these power levels.

What these guys have accomplished is more than a break through. It takes more than just a headstud to make consistent power and keep an engine together long term. It's a complex formula that involves taking what you think will work on paper, trying it and fixing what doesn't quite work out as you expect. Obviously Evo MS has plenty of time and money in testing this powerplant and it's great to see them out at the mile showing what they've accomplished. It's an accomplishment to turn something up on the dyno and show it makes power, it's an even bigger accomplisment to leave the boost **** cranked and go flat out for a mile. I'm truely impressed, congrats to Joe and the whole crew at Evo that made this possible. My goals for the future of this platform have been lifted as a result!
