Most everyone uses some derivitive of a Sachs Kit with an upgraded pressure plate. The big HP guys use a Tilton and other multi disc setups.

Thanks for the reply, Just looked like a decent price difference and was wondering how much is justified and how much is the famous porsche tax?

I think most of the good "kits" are $1500-$2000, plus install, if you don't do it yourself. It might be cheaper, but you probably won't like how it feels. Most of those Spec clutches are like toggles switches...they use a pucked disc that are on/off, hard to modulate. Spend a couple bucks and buy a "known" kit, you'll be happier.

I bought a stage 3+ set last month.
The pressure plate is Sachs stage 3 one,you just pull the spec sticker off then you see the SACHS badge on it.Good bargain clutchs.

Hey, I just got a kit from Kevin at UMW after telling him what I wanted to do. No issues. Fit right first time. Been on the car 2 years without a hiccup.

Get a kit from a place that knows what they are doing and move forward. The cars came out in 01. People have them figured out pretty much on this end. Take advantage of the wisdom people have and save your time....

My 2c. Note, many sources. I noted one that worked well for me.

I've had great experiences with Spec clutches in the past (c5, c6, c6z06, viper). Stage III were always pretty driveable and tough. The stage IV and V were more like on/off switches however. I, like you, am shopping for a clutch setup and no offense to those that have posted here but I don't always agree with the pay more for a proven setup. Now mind you I have no problem paying for quality when its warranted but its just like the packaged turbo setups. Up to a few years ago you had to pay insane amounts for the 6,7,800 kits. When vendors like EPL and others started selling much lower priced kits I know similar conversations took place then. So I too would be very interested in seeing how a stage III disc and say a Sachs PP hold up.

I just installed a Spec 3+ in my car...so far its what I expected...more grabby then stock, but manageable and its still breaking in. I'll post my thoughts/opinion after I get some miles on it.
