Carbon Wing Install

Hello all.... Happy Friday.

I have a Carbon bolt on wing replacement blade for my 996tt and it didn't come with hardware. I picked it up from a friend that had it a while - so tracing it back to its roots will not be available to me.

It's the same wing that people are posting on here - just a regular wing blade made of Carbon.

Has anyone installed one of these suckers yet - and or know what kind of hardware is needed?

Thanks in advance.

Have a great day,

y ou'll need a spanner tool like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...motiveQ5fTools

use it to take the current spoiler off the car first.

Then take the nut/ flange out of the spoiler and transfer it on to the new spoiler and reinstall.

Here's a DIY I did. It's very simple once you get the hang of it

If you don't have the special tool, do you think it would be possible to use a rubber strap (for removing oil filters)? I want to try to remove mine to bleed/fill the hydraulics, but I don't have the tool

As an alternate method to the spanner tool you can use a stainless steel hose clamp and a pair of pliers.

Get a hose clamp that is of sufficient diameter to go around the chrome sleeve of the hydraulic ram. Wrap several layers of duct tape (or other heavy duty tape) around the sleeve towards the top of the ram. Take the hose clamp, unscrew it all the way so you can open it up and put it around the sleeve. Then with the clamp positioned over the tape, tighten it securely around the sleeve. Take a pair of large channel lock pliers that will fit over the hose clamp and position them such that one of the jaws will grip the "screw" portion of the clamp. With a firm grip, rotate the sleeve by way of the clamp a quarter turn in order to unlock the cam fastener from the spoiler. If the hose clamp starts turning on the sleeve, you need to tighten it some more. However, it should not take very much torque to lock or unlock the cam fasteners if you are applying torque in the right direction.

This method definitely requires more work than having the correct tool, but I have used it several times with no problem.
