nope, no points and not a moving violation. 106 is loud at what RPM did they measure?

Are you sure they know what they are doing? My boat has a built big block with open headers and I hit 112 dbs. A little 3.6 TT motor free revving shocks me to be that loud. Under a load would be louder, but still 106.

Id fight it. Chances of him showing up for a fix it ticket are slim.

i'm going to another smog referee to get it tested again. the chp was an idiot so i'm fighting this for sure.

There are different devices that we use on our exhaust at the track in Monterey to get the decibels down so we can run. Put them on and have it tested and signed off and then take them off. Otherwise take it down to the ref with a stock exhaust and once it is passed put the others back on again. Trouble is, at 106 db I have a feeling this won't be the last time you will be ticketed for too much noise.

This is not a ticket you can fight. It is a fix it ticket and you have to get it signed off at a ref station.
