ticketed for exhaust being too loud...

Got pulled over by a chp, he said that my exhaust was too loud. I don’t have straight pipes I have a tubi exhaust. Then he said he wanted to see under the hood to see if everything was legitimate. Is that even legal, then he started walking to the front of the car as he was ordering me to pop the hood. The look on his face was priceless when he didn’t see the engine in the front, so I get out of the car and take him to the back. After staring at the engine for about 30 seconds he say’s “everything look’s in order back here”. Then proceeds to give me a ticket for the exhaust, windows being tinted, and no front license plate. What a ****ty start to a day.

If I practiced in Cali I would love to fight this ticket and subpoena the cop. I would then grill (cross examine) the **** out him about were the engine was/is located

Do you think I should fight it or just pay the fines and move on?

I would do trial by written declaration. I have done this 3 times and was successful 2 of them.

That is a great story with a sad ending. I would fight it because the cop was such an ***.

Move to Kentucky. As long as your car is not on fire, you are gold.

I'm sorry about the ticket but the part about the engine is just too funny. Would have made a great America's Funniest Home Video. Could you have a decibel level performed on the exhaust and see if exceeds the state defined limit?
