GT2 boost pressure..?

GT2 boost pressure..?
I just test drove my friends new 2002 996 gt2. Wow, what a car!!
But I think there might be a boost problem with it. I would like to hear what you experts think..
At WOT, the boost pressure feels unstable, and the boost was up to 1,4 bars some times. The car is supposed to be stock.
What is stock boost pressure on theese cars? What could be wrong when the boost pressure is to high and unstable?
Thanks!

yeaow!!!! 1.4 bars on a stock car? you sure it isn't tuned? even so on pump gas and stock everything else that is high, most tuned cars with freeflowing exhausts don't run that high on pump gas. No wonder it felt fast
if it isn't tuned by someone then something is definitely wrong and if it is tuned by someone, then find out who did the work and what has been done to it.

Sounds like an issue that i've had. When i first bought my gt2, I was also peaking at 1.4. Then it drops . Very interesting and i would like to know if your friends car is really stock.
Keep us posted.

The car is supposed to be stock, yes. But when you buy a used car you can never be sure what has been done to it (?)...
How can we tell for sure if the car has been flashed/tuned? Will a Porsche-workshop see it when they hook up their computers to the car?
The boost feels unstable too.
Maybe a pressure-hose or something is defect? I thoght that would lead to lower boost, not higher?

Yes, most shops can tell if it has been flashed.
No, not necessarily. Most times, a broken, missing, cracked hose, results in higher than normal boost pressures.

We can hear a sssssssssssshhhhhhhh-sound under boost which might be a boost leak (?).

I would look at the wastegate hoses. If their is a leak there, then that would cause overboost. A boost hose leak would most likely cause underboost and the turbos would be pretty loud(whistle or siren sound.) If it is overboosting, I would avoid driving it. Who knows what kind of lean conditions he could be encountering. The erratic boost is probably the turbos attempting to maintain a boost level out of there effeciency range. Good luck.
