I am getting very close to 650whp, I would rather prevent an issue as opposed to repairing, especially when it comes to poking a rod through the block. I just dont know if basic rods/studs will suffice for 650-700hp/tq, I have also heard several times that once the block is taken apart, it just isn't the same anymore.

Just curious, what kind of turbos and setup do you have to get to 650whp?? Also would like to know if your car is RWD or AWd , what boost? Have you dynoed?

Not doubting your accomplishment, just want to learn.

I have K24 hot/GT 3071 compressor hybrids and only problems have been blowing off a couple of hoses. Street boost 1.5 and track boost 1.2. Read earlier post as to what was done inside engine.

Thanks for the input. I have a GT700 kit, club sport intercoolers, y-pipe, and throttle body. Looking for more power but don't want to open pandoras box. I did it with my corvette and ferrari and have been miserable since. The cars are super fast but very touchy. Lost everyday drivablility and thats what I love about the Porsche!

I have the UMW 2c, basically K24/26's with custom maf, injectors, fpr and modified fuel filter (more flow). I am still AWD and havent dyno'd yet, the number came from another 2c that was dynod at 1.2-1.3bar.

The only limitation is that the boost doesnt max until 4250-4500rpm (can brake traction in 4th). Also, I am not in the effeceincy range for these turbos, would need internals which is the motivator for posting this thread. I am having some turbo work done and contemplating the 2b setup which maxes out between 600-650hp but has amazing torque under the curve and doesnt need internals.

Got it.. I am going with GT3071 Tial turbos next week....same dilemma. Seems like we should be okay with 600whp on stock bottom end and that's what my tuner (Tony) thinks as well.

Btw...what clutch are you using? I am looking at Clutchmasters Stage 3..just want to keep the feel close to stock. Any recommendations?

600whp should be fine on the stock bottom, 650-700 starts to get risky, for me anyway. I have the Sachs stage 4 but will probably get the UMW version with the lightweight flywheel. Both feel very close to stock as far as clutch pedal feel.

Al, do you have a picture of your hybrid? Is that just the Garrett 71 compressor wheel stuffed in a K24 compressor housing or a GT3071 "cold side" compressor and housing mated to a K24 turbine?

With proper tuning, fueling (fuels rails, secondary pump, MAF) and C 16 you can run up to 1.5 bars on a stock motor if you only do it occassionaly and limit yourself to 1.1 bars on 93 pump.

Stop letting people scare you, D33P. You can get by with gaskets and studs. Divexxtreme had stock rods and crank the whole way thru his journey to the top of the 60-130 list(IIRC).

I had the stock crank, but installed Pauter rods. But that was only after I went to the 900+ HP/GT30 level.
