Why is there a difference in collector design? Mark yours looks like a cone and EVOMS appears to have a trident shape?

Those are 44.5mm 304SS with custom single flanges and custom 3 to 1 merge collector... they also have a recess lip so that the tubing goes in and its seemless...

anyways... Dont want to Hi jack the thread...

What is the advantage of one single flange vs 3 smaller flanges?

When is the diameter to large? For example, when will the diameter size of the headers be to large thus decreasing exhaust velocity? Kind of like putting to much or to little of a kink in you water hose?

There is a fine balance between primary tube diameter, length of exhaust travel from the heads to the turbo, turbo size, head flow, rev limit and power level. We have tested many different combinations as well performed flow testing with CAD software. There are many different variables to consider when maximizing any header design.

Our collector is designed to provide maximum ground clearance as well as making the exhaust travel shorter.

good question, Rob.

When I had a 500 cube street/strip car with about 600 bhp, I went to 2.125 inch header tubes(pre-collector). I actually lost power from the previous 1.875 inch setup.

Thanks for the reply, I am really interested in knowing more about this information. I am currently using EVOMS GT 700 headers, but as you might or might not be aware they were damaged two days before Supra Nats when my car had a blow out and crashed. I put some liquid weld on them for the Supra Nats, which really didnt work so I am searching for headers more importantly the most effecient design.
Thank you
Robert

Could you please explain the benefit or lack thereof in having equal exhaust travel lengths of the header tubes? I was under the impression that it's important to have the same length of travel so the exhaust pulses don't interfere with the other cylinders on their respective bank.

An equal length design is important however on a turbo application with short exhaust primary tubes, this is less important. This is my opinion and I am sure that others may have their opinion. We have extensive testing on MANY different designs and have found no significant difference between a true equal length design and one that is within 90% equal length. The biggest factor is length of exhaust travel, diameter and other flow variables which are engine, power and application dependent.
