Rumbling noise
#17
Not yet - car going in next week. Friend of mine (a mechanic) went for a drive and noted that it's actually a hollow type of a sound. He says it’s not mechanical. He went on saying; it’s like some bit which is lose and it’s then vibrating hitting parts of car body. He even thinks it could be something behind the dashboard. He says it will be difficult to find and that it’s definitely not the diff or anything in suspension parts – the noise is all wrong and it rattles unrelated to bumps or acceleration or braking... He advises to wait for the sound to get worse - if ever - as it is not unsafe in any way. I am taking plastics over the shocks and battery off to investigate if there is anything wobbling under there.

Will let you know next week when they disconnect my drop links. Then we can continue troubleshooting...

Car is back from dealer. Apparently the problem was pinned down to: my H&R lowering springs. You can see it from photos. The rubber has gone and they are touching each other. I am gobsmacked. 3 years and 40K... I would say not very good springs? Will start a new thread about this...
