installed protomotive intercoolers pics inside
first off i would like to thank todd and the gang at protomotive for great service and an awesome well built product the fit and finish was perfect!!
the install of these massive protomotive built 4.5 inch intercoolers yesterday was pretty straight forward if you have ever done a turbo swap you can do this.... the only major things you have to do is remove top shroud add some air dams and modify the bottom shroud pull 2 new new vac lines for the relocated dv's... this is quite an upgrade coming from the gt2 ic's... the proto ic's are massive with huge free flowing end tanks the ic exit is now a full 2.5 inch which mates up perfectly with the proto y-pipe.... also replaced the plugs with one step colder denso pk22pr8 and topped them off with new 997tt coil packs took around 7 hours total not to bad.. took her out for a quick spin last night and it now breaks the tires loose on low boost(1.1 bar) did a couple of high boost (1.3 bar) 50-140 pulls and all i have to say is its a handfull .. good fun.. enjoy the pics let me know if anyone has any questions

Decent looking units. Pleasantly surprised to hear they made such a difference in performance. Was thinking of picking up a proto IC for my 993 but maybe will go for 80+ lb injectors and a new proto tune for more power w/ the 996. Headed to mid-michigan now for some tasty 112 fuel till someone around here decides to supply C16/import/Q16... Post new times if you get any!

How much were they may I ask? I just looked over their WEB site and to look at it you wouldn't think they sold much in the way of parts at all - nothing listed Are those diverters blowing to atmo? Hard to tell from the pics on the site, if so any issues with fuel management or have you gone standalone\MAP sensed?
Edit: Looked closer, you've really streamlined the intake to the turbos! That's either MAP or a pressurized MAF, which is it? Will those filters flow enough? They look to be getting nice cool air that's for sure!
P.S. I second the call for times or other data. They certainly look like they ought to flow better and absorb more heat!

the ic's run $3600 and some change.. as for protomotive's site most of there stuff is custom and most people dont do the install stuff in there garage they either send it out to proto or have there indy do it... the dv blow off to atmos.. i am rumming a pressurized ford maf sensor.. the filters seem to flow enough they are 5.5 inches long 5.5 in dia..in the next couple of weeks ill be bringing the car down to protomotive for dyno tuning .. i will post some 6-130s and a few pulls

The pics are deceiving, those are pretty good sized air filters especially when you consider it's using a pair of them! How's the weight compared to stock? Intercoolers seem to function half as heatsinks and half as radiators so a little mass seems to go a long way. Look like VERY nice pieces, I look forward to any test data you can provide - thank you!
