Turbo Upgrade - Went off the Deep End

Guys,

After talking to Speed Gallery, the place where I get all of my work done, I decided to get the ball bearing water cooled turbos. They are smaller Tial 2860s and am going with Siemens 60lb injectors and a Hitachi MAF upgrade. I think this is a smilar setup to EVO's GT660 or 700? The only thing that will be left for later is an upgraded fuel pump... He was adamant that this was the right turbo for a supercharged V8 like feel and still deliver 670 or so HP on pump. That's probably a solid 100+ more than my K24s were putting out on a good day.

The best part is that i get my car back in 8 days.

I tried to talk him into 2871s but he was pretty adamant that this was the right combination for me..

Opinions?

All I can say is that got a great deal.

This setup is supposed to spool at least 500 RPM sooner than a 24/18G and have a LOT less lag.

Congrats, Great to see you finally found a good solution. Do you already have the turbos? i am still waiting for my Gt3071 from Tial...its been only 1 week.

I heard the same from my tuner as well. The Gt3071's are also supposed to spool 500 rpms earlier than 18g's ....in that case i have no doubt the Gt28's will spool even faster.

who is your ECU tuner?

Also what clutch did you go with? I am still confused with all the options out there...might go with clutchmasters stage 4.

They arent that much more than a brand new k24/18g. So if you are considering the k24/18g sure talk to your tuner about this turbo.

Haven't decided on a clutch. I chose GIAC because I already had their flash, they are local and willing to custom dyno fine tune. I've had great luck with them.

That said I think there aren't really any bad tuners out there. I spoke to several including Tony and they all seem great.

Still haven't decided on a clutch.

Agreed - thank you for all the info lately. Your threads and PMs have been really helpful in helping me decide what I'm going to do. Your car (still) looks fabulous with those wheels, and I can't wait to hear your thoughts when you get it back!

Good choice in turbos!
Are they a direct bolt on like the k24's?
or do you have to retrofit them? diff oil lines?
