Once I changed the exhaust, to a less restricted model, the actual boost raised to 1.4 bar so I had to lower the value to 7 (or 1.2 bar).

ok, got it. pretty cool setup. How does this affect the ecu's safety protocols? Reason I ask is usually you can change exhaust and it might increase boost a little but not by the drastic amount you saw, which indicates an override of ecu safety functions possibly.

That sounds like the OEM exhaust was pretty restrictive. Considering it also doesn't drone and is quiet i think that pretty much confirms it! I'm betting that with the new exhaust the turbos spooled up much better too right? that too is a sign that the exhaust side was restrictive. Turbos really hate backpressure in the exhaust...

yes it is very bad. there is a diy on how to make it much better by drilling straight through and using the mufflers as resonance chambers

Yup saw it and had to chuckle. Hey if it works and doesn't drone it's worth considering. I'm NOT proud when it comes to saving money or making power!

actually, I think that would work well. I would even drill out the cats and make it even more free flowing.
