New EPL dyno #'s!!!
#17
The new owner won't be slipping the clutch excessively and has driven both HEAVY grabby single disk clutches as well as light multiple disk clutches. However this car is also going to be driven by the girlfriend and while she's good with a stick he didn't think a heavy lightswitch clutch would be a good idea. Owner is happy with the numbers although puzzled by the boost drop on the high end with such high flowing turbos, he's hoping it is just the boost controller or something! As the owner hasn't driven a hi-po car in some years (DD is a TDI Jetta) I suspect the boost will be held down for a little awhile anyway while the power level is adjusted to. I do expect the car will be taken to the drag strip once in a blue moon if he reconnects with some of his Supra friends. They used to rent the track occasionally for a day's fun...

Hrm, yeah a 60-130 number might be interesting as the new owner isn't likely to do it anytime soon

No go on the 60-130, as I don't have a drift box anymore. The best I could do for the new owner is a timeslip from the track if he wants that
I fully believe the boost drop is from the boost controller, as it will hold ROCK steady boost at anything from 1.0 bar to 1.2 bar. If I try to turn it up any higher it spikes to 1.3, settles to 1.25ish, and then drops off from there...very strange. The new owner could also re-install the factory boost solenoid at any time, and leave the boost controller still in the car, and if he feels the need to raise the boost more with race gas, then he could hook up the boost controller again.

Heh, no don't hit the strip with it. I may shoot for some numbers here one day but I'll have to find a good road and acquire a box to do it too. I'm not too hung up on numbers at the moment but it does seem like a good way to document changes in performance on the road...

Just got back from the dyno again with the car. My last dyno I made 565rwhp at 1.2 bar with stock injectors and a 5 bar on pump gas. This time I dynoed with the new 58 lb injectors, and a new clutch (thanks Tym at Switzer!!!) and at the SAME boost level (spiking 1.3 settling to 1.25ish) the car pounded out 621rwhp and 585 rwtq on the same dyno as last time. This was with MS109 fuel. I tried to run more boost, but the boost controller would NOT allow it unfortunately. ALso, the boost fell off HARD (down to almost 1.0 bar) after 6000 rpm on that pull. If the boost would have held steady all the way through the pull I think it might have made 640ish on that boost level. Can't say how happy I am with Tony at EPL and his tune.
The car drive like stock, but runs STRONG when in boost (and it is dead consistant. I made 3 back to back pulls, and they were all within 6rwhp of each other). Thanks again Tony for such a solid tune, and thanks to Tym Switzer for the great price and fast turnaround on the clutch install.
The clutch drives near stock, but certainly holds all this power!!

Excellent work and those turbos seem to be moving some major air!

I will have the car soon enough then it will actually be "mine". I'm interested in the dyno sheets too honestly, the boost fall off sounds weird but I wasn't there and I don't think Tim was looking to do more than get some numbers for both himself and me. I will have to renew some old friendships and see about getting some AWD numbers, I believe a friend of mine has either a Mustang or DynoJet AWD. I would love to hook up with someone with a DynoDynamics except it seems this car is a black box for the end user <sigh> Good to hear from you, don't be a stranger - I'll PM ya' in a bit Hope all is well with you!
