No mods to the fender, but you would have to run spacers because RUF 19inch wheels were made for the narrow body cars.
Downfalls, include a harsher ride and the limited number of performance tires available. That is probably about to change as the 997 has 19inches as stock. These perticular RUF wheels are pretty heavy, but then again, they won't bend like others.

I have them on my car. No problems at all. I actually think that the ride is better with the Ruf wheels and the PSS9 suspension then with the stock stuff.

If unsprung weight matters to you find other wheel...
Also, the idea of spacers front and rear is not grweat (more so on the front as it can affet your steering)

The front spacers for the Ruf chrome optic wheels are about 1/4 inch each....If you can detect a difference in steering based on this, hats off to you.

I am alway amazed at the spacer discussions and Alois has used them understanding well the speed and car geometry, they make a very good economic case and now I see that Porsche is using them as well, manufacturers want to make one offset and adapt them to differant applications, the new sport techno wheel on the TT is a good E.G of this,

Of course the homogonized wheel and sport suspension combo.

cheers

Of course the best results are a homogonized wheel and sport suspension combo.

Agreed - however, the Sport techno only uses a spacer on the rear and it is a lot smaller than the spacer requirement of the RUF...
Nothing against RUF. I actually wanted the RUF wheels for my TT but again, prefer a wheel made for my car with no need for spacers. Also, a lighter wheel would be nice....
I think the majority of customwers are TT owners so maybe for the 997 you can look into a widebody lightweight wheel with no spacer?
