Something strang I've noticed today
Well, I've attempted to calibrate my fuel guage in a gheto way. I took my car to the gas station when on empty, disconnected the battery, and proceeded to fill up the car. Well, the car wouldn't let me fill it up and would just spit fuel back at me!!! WTF....at first I freaked out, but than reconnected the battery and all was nice and dandy. Well, the bad part is that since I wan't able to fill it up with the battery disconnected, my guage now shows 3/4 full.
So, what causes the car to spit fuel when the battery is disconnected?

There is a fuse under the dash that's dedicated to the gas fill spout....when that fuse blows, you can't put gas in the car....do a search on this subject....there's been a number of writeups on it.

from what ive read, its between the fender filler and the actual gas tank. theres plenty of threads about this concerning filling conditions when the fuse is blown and gas must be trickled in.

Then there's no power to the fuse, the flap, or anything else. Connect the battery and fill it up.

Well, I reconnected the battery and filled her up with 14gallons of fuel. How much does our gas tank fit???
BTW Everyone seems to misunderstand me. My flap is working fine. There has been no issues with my flap up untill I disconnected the battery. Once I reconnected it everything was dandy.

Anyway, I did that right after I put out my Capri and took a sip of "Orange Mocha Frappucino".

Looking in the manual I see "refill volume 63 L". sounds like a lot? Converting to US gal liquid I see 16.6 (Imp 13.65) - I've never gotten that much in there...
Anyone know the answer to this?

I just went thru a formula for upping octane in a tank of gas on a 996TT and the specs I got was that the gas tank holds 64 litres...which converts to 16.9 gallons. One time, I got 15.9 gallons in there and thought that I was running on fumes....according to the specs, I still had one gallon left...but I wasnt' about to test the theory.
