Protomotive K24/18G 996tt vs LPE C6ZO6 660hp *VIDEO*
#17
For example, here is a video of a head, cam, intake, exhaust Z06 running a 9.9 @ 139 mph. This Z06 only makes 587 rwhp with this N/A setup. The driver is *excellent* and is able to extract maximum performance from the car. The record for a K24/18G car is 10.5 @ 135 (139 trap) and that car is RWD, 6-MT making over 700 rwhp.

That same Z06 that’s in the video above also ran a 9.6 @ 145 mph with a 100 wet shot making only 680 rwhp!
What I'm trying to get across is that the driver is *everything* in a Z. The cars are extremely fast when driven to their maximum potential.
Again, great run. The 996TT pulled the LPE car nicely.

Amazing numbers and what a driving skill, damn. I've seen a Callaway model with 590rwhp, mild SC, only 6psi run a 10.9s @ 130. But hard for me to believe that a NA car doing 9's with only 587rwhp.

Only a 10.90 @ 130 with 590 rwhp?
Art - Jamie Furman, a member of this forum, ran a 10.83 @ 130 on drag radials in his otherwise bone stock Z06 with only 450 rwhp!
The driver is everything with the Z06.

Yea, but Jamie Furman ran that time at the most magical and fast track in the United States of America!!!!! I don't know of another vette in the US at a different track that can duplicate that... Just my 0.02 The Z typically traps 123-125 stock in Houston...

Those guys would run faster than everyone else on whatever track they ran on....but that's a fact that still doesn't detract from the performance the cars are truly capable of.

why is driver skill such a big part of extracting max performance out of a Z03 alone? why not a 996tt? Is the RWD/traction issues that causes the variances in performances? I have personally witnessed a k24/18g car put 3 car lengths on a tune+intake Z03...The z03 had 500whp according to the owner and the 996tt dynoed 520AWHP on DD dyno.

If it is indeed a stock one hitting 130mph, damn I've never seen that in my life or any track yet. E.T. is definately possible. I've noticed some people do not really disclose of what is underneath the hood, no fense.

Most of the time it has more to do with deep pockets than anything else. There is always a bigger fish in the pond. Like said above, it was a nice win on that night with that driver. There are always so many slight changes in a race that can change it one way or the other.

Nice video Scott! He even missed one shift but this guy can drive for sure. I was not aware that these cars are capable of hitting that trap being stock. Sounds like he had modified exhaust though.
